Q: local just broke into american dreams. refinery death toll now at 14. i work in a downtown office building approx 40 miles from the blast and we felt it. from tv coverage ground-zero looks like a small nuke hit it. homeowners as far as 2 blocks away reporting sporadic glass damage windows blown out. jeffmayner@yahoo.com writes ramman@dodgecity.cc wrote at approx 121 pm cst a major explosion rocked the bp amoco refinery in texas city a southeast houston tx suburb. the area of the plant involved in the explosion processes approx 450000 gallons per day of octane enhancers more commonly known in the industry as gasoline additives. oil prices initially spiked on the but industry analysts say the loss of this processing facility will have more effect on retail gasoline prices than it will oil prices since the output of this facility is used to boost the octane of already-refined gasoline. consumers of mid and high octane grades as well as consumers in areas of the country where special additives are required to meet state-mandated emission standards. this refinery provided 30% of bp amocos total daily output of refined fuels and 3% of the us daily total. initial reports indicate at least 4 dead and more than 100 injured. the death toll is expected to rise as cleanup operations get underway. the loss of life is a terrible thing. let me get that out right now. even so to us out here in california where the gas prices have been going through the roof lately already this is not good . our reformulated gas is exactly what theyre talking about in this article. great. - jeff .

the problem is the consumer relies on the us govenment epa ratings posted on the car. the problem is the way the test is conducted does not give a true reflection of the fuel consumed by the car. if the test was conducted by most any normal person they would put a gallon in the tank and driev over the same course and document the miles gone before the gas runs out! epa mandates that the test be conduced differently! they measure the tailpipe emissions under certain circumstances. obviously the electric engine helping will reduce the emissions but the test does not factor real world driving. the hybrid owners have been flooding the dealers with complaints over the misrepresentation but they are using the only numbers the government allows. articles i have read state that the hybrid owners are lucky to get 60% of the advertised mpg for any of the models. save your money and dont buy hybrid since you can buy cars now that are run on gasoline with better fuel economy. noticed in last eveings local paper am article under the headline defroster air-conditioning put dent in hybrids milage mark phelan from knight ridder papers seems they tested a few hybrids in real world conditions from late summer thru most of this winter... look at these figures toyota prius... rated at 60 city 51 highway racked up 22.8 mpg ford escape.. rated at 36 and 32 by the epa racked up 21.6 mpg the honda accord with the electric motor rated at 29 & 37 racked up 20.4 mpg i mean in the winter my little dodge dakota 3.9 5 sp does fall to about 19 mpg .... but what the hell my one corvette has averaged 24 mph over its entire 10 year life time... i have to wonder how much fuel milage a hybird would loose it it had any full grocery bags stuffed inside...so much weight would really kill the gas mileage bob griffihs.. .

john it is unfortunate that your heater core has failed however be assured that chryco is not the only manufacturer that buries the heater core in the i/p. virtually all manufacturers that i am aware of do the very same thing. mike why does chrysler insist on burying parts designed to wear out behind so much other stuff. parts with a 3-5 year life expectancy should not require 8-12 hours labor to replace. my 2000 dakota has a heater core leak. the entire dash has to be removed then the heater /evap box has to be removed and that means the a/c must be emptied flushed and refilled with r134. 8-12 hours shop time for a 100.00 part. plus who knows what else will need replacing along the way! dodge has done crap like this for years and i hoped it had wised up. and this is just wrong on soo many levels! anyone got any tricks to help a poor $ap save about a grand a do it himself. .

reader shows cylinder 2 misfire detected. i have changed spark plug wires cap rotor injector and ran professional injection cleaner at the rail. i am still getting the code back after clearing it out. could the rail be faulty what the hell else could it be 1999 ram 1500 4x4 auto 5.9 gas with 65000 miles. vacuum leak near cylinder 2. spray some flammable gas around cyl 2 intake manifold and note if idle speed increases. if it does replace intake manifold gasket. peter isnt that how the explosion happened in houston -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- .
