'93 Dakota distributor gear replacement

From : dlc

Q: if this is the oe radio checking the switched and constant power will not fix the problem. there is no fuse on either line behind the radio and only on fuse in the distro block for the radio. with what he has said to this point the radio is dead and needs to be replaced. out of the clear my radio quit working in my 94 dakota. it just went completly dead no noise nothing. fuse checks okay so must be an internal problem. has anyone else had this same problem and what did you do about it thanks for any help ron the radio has two sources of power. one goes on and off with the key the other is always on. did you check them both al .

dlc dlc@dlc.net wrote after trying unsuccessfully on my own to diagnose a stalling problem i took the pickup into procare. they found that the distributor gear is badly worn so that the timing is affected leading to the stall and often a backfire in the exhaust. fuel pressure egr valve and injectors are all good. this solution was previously suggested by users of this group. procare wants $1022 plus tax to do this repair. they say the major cost is to remove and reinstall the intake manifold in order to get to the gear. totally unnecessary unless its the gear part of the camshaft that is at fault. the local dodge dealer wants about $300. they say the gear can be replaced without removing the manifold. each party suggests the other estimate is way wrong. i would appreciate comments. something else to consider; the 93s were built without a tensioner for the timing chain is there any timing chain noise as this could also be part of the problem .

i will scott. budd lol well budd im not going down this road with you again. i will just take this as a reminder and let it drop. that would be a first. but do try anyway. -- max give a man a match and he is warm for a short while. light him on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life. lol well budd im not going down this road with you again. i will just take this as a reminder and let it drop. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving no tom i never said one way or another what kind of electrode the plugs had. you assumed them to be adjustable which is typical for you then decided to offer advice without a sufficient amount of information. that puts the blame squarely upon you for beginning an argument. all i said was what my brother experienced with the set of plugs he bought when i wasnt nearby to advise him. surface gap plugs and multigap plugs both require higher voltages to work as originally de
