was at the first blower level on the switch. today no heat and its zero. any suggestions. temperature guage is showing 3/4. an open thermostat usually shows low engine temp. thermostat is about 1 year old. any thoughts. does the upper radiator hose get hot if not suspect a failed closed thermostat. are both heater hoses hot if not suspect a plugged heater core. disconnect the heater hoses at the firewall and backflush the core. .

is this a cronic problem with the dodge during the last week the heater was not operating at previous heating capacity. the blower was actually cooling the heat when on high. maximum available heat was at the first blower level on the switch. today no heat and its zero. any suggestions. temperature guage is showing 3/4. an open thermostat usually shows low engine temp. thermostat is about 1 year old. any thoughts. john .

hello all have 2003 ram 2500 tcd w/ 6 speed manual and about 4k miles. love it so far! but... i have a question about some clutch/tranny noise. it is quite noticable when idleing in neutral clutch out. goes away when clutch depressed. sounds a bit like the ctd idle but doubles or triples the volume and is coming from the clutch/tranny not the engine. sounded like a throw-out bearing to me and others. found a tsb about replacing the clutch for just such symptoms and dropped truck off at dealer for repair. also gave written instructions to not flash the ecm. well when i picked it up the ecm was re-flashed but the noise was the same. ...it was after hours so could not speak to service in person. when i called they said my vin was outside the tsb range. i said ok but what about the noise they said what noise it made no noise during the test drive. i said... well i guess not since it happens idleing in neutral and is much more noticable from outside the truck. in 40 years of manuals i have had similar noise occur. one was the t-o bearing the other was tranny shaft bearings replaced clutch assy at same time. that much noise from rotating parts equals high wear to me could it be normal. ...they all do that ; have appointment friday day off to point and show in person and would welcome any comments. thanks much woody .

i just replaced the clutch fan.plus the noise does not start until i put in geareven at idle rpmsin reverse anyway.i really dont hear the noise in drive until i press the gas to get rpms up.like i said also letting the engine get to running temperature doesnot helpnoise is still present so i think i can rule out the fan.only goes away once i drive for 2-5 minutes.engine purs like a kitten hot or cold in high or low rpms in park or nutral.like i saidtoday will be warmerill see what happens. sounds similar to the often reported fan clutch roar are you sure the shifting is affected cold tems make the clutch tighten up and the fan makes a pretty good noise. as the oil in the clutch loosens as the temp warms it up the noise goes away. hi all i was just wonderingever since these 0-10 degree highs we been having in the northest lately.i have a 99 dakota slt 3.9 v6 magnumwhen i start out in the morning.or after sitting a while.my 4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive makes a whining noise when starting outsome times seems to slip upon acceleration.does not matter if in reverse or drive.when i drive for 2-5 minutes the whining goes away and the transmission seems to work fine once at operation temperature it this normal for extremely cold weather0 degrees out sideor signs of a tourqe converter going bad also it there a way to warm up the transmission fasterlike idle in drivecant here any noise until i actually goto to accelerate i let the engine get upto operation temperature before leavingbut does not help.i have to actually drive to ge the transmission to warm up.i tried idling in nutralbut this does not help either.alsoif this is normali read in the groups about sticking transmission valves in cold wetherif i keep driving this way until things warm up outsideis there and chance of this causing serious damage to my transmission/torque converter.its suppose to get upto 25 degress tomarrowheat wave compared to recent temperatures-2 as i type ill see if nooise is still present in warmer temperatures. .

i am preparing my asbestos long-johns for this one....... the only changes you will notice is that your wallet is now lighter and you are letting more dirt into your engine now. did you alter your exhaust flow timing fuel delivery and computer chip for this greater air-flow to the engine i didnt think so. maybe a tornado or those gas-line magnets would help. heck just jack up the rear end so you are always going downhill. that will save a ton on gas. just my .02 -dje jon wrote just put a k & n air filter in my 5.9l 2002 ram. any ideas if i will see an improvement in gas mileage or other places its amazing to me the truck gets any air at all the way the intake box is setup. thanks for the info. jon .
