92 auto transmission in cummins 3/4 ton p/u
From : duncan
Q: just bought a 92 3/4 ton cummins dodge. on my trip home with it i drove through several hundred miles where the outside temperature was in excess of 100. durning this time the transmission would not go into or stay in overdrive. im reasonably certain that this was caused by the internal transmission temperature sensor reading above the 275 limit for overdrive. i stopped for a few hours during which the outside temperature fell to about 80 at which time i forged on and the overdrive worked fine. i also note that the transmission does not shift into overdrive readily i have to take my foot off the accelerator pedal and then it might take a few seconds to shift. does anyone have experience with this problem i feel that the difficult shifting into overdrive is related to the inability to shift under hot conditions. i will likley never drive any extended time in high temperatures but would like to fix the transmission anyway. .
