91 Dodge Dakota

From : jj hall

Q: miles wrote jay smith wrote i had my 02 dakota in today for its 30000 mile transmission service. the dealer used atf+3 in it. the owners manual recommends atf+4 in the 45rfe trans. that is in my truck. when i questioned the service writer i was told that dodge now recommends atf+3. i have already e-mailed dodge and will hear back from then by wed. my main concern is that my 7yr/100mi. warranty is now shot. the 7/100 is the only reason a 02 dodge is in the driveway and not a 02 chey. has anyone heard of this change of mind from dodge the dealer is wrong. it should have atf+4 in it. atf+3 wont hurt it but your warranty requires the synthetic atf+4. there have been tsbs issued on the subject but your dealer has it backwards. maybe maybe not .......... read the tsb very close and see if your transmission requires the atf+4 or +3. http//dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/21-004-04.htm this is the same one nosey posted and if you read it you will see there are exceptions. my truck for example is listed but it came from the factory with atf+3 and that is what i still have in it. jerry .
