Q: b9f0a0c5272tbone/b9f0a0c5272 - not sure if maybe max is basing his info 5.9s not available with 5spds some years on some of the same stuff i ran across checking out pcm prices on different auto parts sites i almost came to the same conclusion re no 5.9 5spd some years. certain sources didnt show some 5spd parts like pcms for - iirc - 97/98 or 98/99 5.9s. i got so confused i called a local chrysler dealer and had the parts dept check they confirmed there was a 98 5.9 5spd available. i was just curious as to what years dc or dodge itself did not offer the 5 speed. i know that there were some versions of the p/u that it was not offered with but the basic truck came with standard shift standard and the automatic was an additional cost option. of course trying to find one with a standard shift that they were supposed to come with on the lot is just about impossible since most americans are fat and lazy when it comes to driving but such is life. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

howard your truck should be getting between 15 and 17.5 mpg depending on your driving habits. what was your mileage before the mods that would be a good indicator. secondly the k & n will flow more air initially but the filtration ability is no way as good as the oem arrangement. furthermore over time as dirt is gathered the k & n will flow less air than a partially clogged factory filter. it would be wise to hook up a manometer between the air filter and throttle body and watch for vacuum during use then you will know for sure. additionally if the exhaust has much less backpressure much of the ingested fuel could be exiting the engine because of reflected vacuum. this you would see as unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust. using a 4 gas analyser will show that as well. steve my 04 hemi quad cab 4x4 is averaging 9-10 miles around town at best and not a heck of alot more on the highway. i have modified it as follows. k&n cold air intake system gibson dual extreme exhaust system. tonneau cover. i did add a set of bfg all terrain ta/ko tires. the tires are 265 size up from 245 70/17 i think about an inch taller and inch wider. i dont go peeling out at lights or really pushing it. is this common or should i be checking s
