Q: quick true testimonial for a good system. i totalled my 97 1500 std cab short bed about 3 weeks ago in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler at about 30-35 mph. i walked away with cuts and bruises a bloody nose where the airbag-ejected horn-button cover hit me in the face and a broken finger my left hand hit the windshield. it was like driving into the side of a building at 35 he didnt back up more than about 6 inches. the only things not bent on my truck were the tailgate and rear bumper. i stopped so fast that my spindles broke off at the ball joints and the tow truck had to winch my wheel out from under the engine of the semi before it could be towed. it still hurts my ribs when i shit and i cant yet turn my neck as far as i could before the wreck. i was wearing the seatbelt and shoulder harness have the neck and chest bruises to prove it. http//photos.yahoo.com/bc/funkychateau/vwp.dir=/yahoo!+photo+album&.src=ph&.dnm=truck.jpg&.view=t&.done for those interested in details i was approaching a traffic light red so i let off the gas and began coasting down from about 45 mph. the oncoming traffic turning left does not make a 90-degree turn it just sort of angles across my lane to enter an expressway ramp. about 75 or 100 yards from the light it turned green so i started gaining speed again. the last thing i remember was the first oncoming car turning in front of me and i thought well ok he still had room to go. then the 18-wheeler behind him followed him into my lane and i became a grille ornament. lucky for me i had collision insurance because the semi driver insisted he still had a green arrow. i later returned to the intersection and noticed that as my light turned green the oncoming traffics green arrow becomes a yellow arrow and then switches to a plain unprotected green light. he obviously saw green out of the corner of his eye didnt look at oncoming traffic and followed the car ahead of him into the intersection. i wish i had thought to get the cops to check his log for how long hed been awake but i was pretty dazed and didnt think about it. no citations were issued. btw i just bought half of a new 2003 ram 1500 single cab short bed with my settlement check for the 97 ; martin .
