5th gear NV4500 Manual

Q: this is a commom problem with that transmission. see http//dodgeram.org/ on sun 18 jul 2004 224709 -0500 dan and susan dsatgero@tls.net wrote hi i have a problem with 5th gear overdrive 1997 3500 cummins with 87000+ 2 wd version of nv4500 transmission. the other 4 forward gears and reverse work fine. what happen i was cruising in 5th gear about 70 mph pulling a 5th wheel. then the truck slowed down no pops bangs snaps grinding noises i eased into the accelerator the rpm increased with no increase in speed. i shifted to fourth and cruised the rest of the way to my destination. please send any info direct to dsatgero@tls.net thank you. dan holle .
