5.7 Hemi Noisy Gears

Q: dodge 2003 qc 2wd 5.7 hemi. anybody know whats with shifting noises in the above turck seems like when i am standing still and shift into either drive or reverse i can hear a spining sound then the gears engaging then all is normal. noise lasts only about 3 to 4 seconds. thanks jack .

the hemi and the 4.7 use a new fully electronic tranny. this tranny uses puls solenoids to modulate how fast or slow the tranny fluid applies the clutches. what you hear is the soleniod buzz as it turns on and off rapidly to engage the clutches or as you said go into drive or reverse. all the dodge front wheel drive cars have been doing this for years. .
