Q: blazer had an inline fuel filter. you just took it out and put a new one in. youre applying logic and basic mechanical principles to this situation. if you remove all logic and think strictly like a bean counter youll see that by not supplying an easy-to-change in-line filter you can knock off $0.85 cents off the production cost of a new vehicle. extrapolate that over the amount of vehicles to be produced with that same type of fuel system and you can start to see the dollar signs building up... .... nevermind about the poor owners who after 100k miles or so well outside any warranty period find themselves with fuel pressure problems due to a plugged-up in-tank filter and a $300+ repair bill for something that the average weekend mechanic could have done for $15 in about 30 minutes had the company elected to spend the extra 85 cents. i got an in-line filter on my truck but it was close to a $5000 option .
