open rears tend to favor one axle but i forgot which one tom lawrence has it right it favors the one with less traction. under equal traction a condition so rare its hard to fit to reality its been claimed that the right axle is favored. this isnt really true since there are always conditions existing that show why the right axle spun. but since the right axle tends to spin more than the left one it is still favored. limited slip diffs have both good and bad points and one of the bad points can be dangerous so unless it is requested when someone orders the truck they usually dont have them. horse pucky. the limited slip or in the dodge anti spin or sure grip isnt standard because it costs more. bullshit. if this were true then all of the trucks on the lot would be stripped down work specials. most of the ones on the lot are loaded to the teeth with options and they all cost more. i think that the limited slip option is about $150.00 not much additional cost when compared to the heated leather seats many of them have. actually the lsd option is over $350 but as to why they dont have more vehicles especially the 4wds have em installed on the dealer lots that i dont know i figure most people in general dont even care what an lsd is and thus it does help to keep costs down otherwise in my opinion all 4wds should have em here in new england i wouldnt have a truck without one! 79 t/a ws6 455 hurst 4 spd blk w/ t-tops heavily fortified 4mpg 00 ram 2500hd qc v-10 4x4blk5 spd410 lsd 10mpg 98 intruder 1400 blk 5 spd 25mpg .

probably the ford. dodge is more of a show truck. looks great and all but for the hard work i would get the ford or wait for the nissan titan diesel to come out. this makes no sense. all previous dodge trucks were well regarded as very tough work trucks. what has changed with the new models also im unaware of a nissan 3/4 ton. and there is no better diesel than cummins. .

the 95 is different from the 00s through 04s. our front speakers have tweeters mounted in the sail panels on the doors. the separation between high and low isnt bad but the speakers themselves are pretty cheap. i dont know what head unit you guys have but id have thought the dc wouldve at least put cd text in. my hu model raz has rds which is cool for radio but the cd player doesnt display anything except the track number. until i get new speakers ive got a 40x4 rms sony amp with a 7-band eq in between the oem infinity amp and the stock speakers. at least i can push the high end a bit more and control the bottom end flap but im still limited by the speakers low power handling. i tried bypassing the infinity amp and wiring the head unit directly to the sony then to the speakers which removed the compensating eq from the infinity amp but the speakers sounded pretty dull and flat even with the sonys eq tweaked. the real solution will be to run the head directly to the sony amp then directly to new components up front and coaxials or possible components in the rear. joe black 03 dakota 5.9 r/t cc calypso green 93 mustang 5.0 lx hatch with a few goodies michael greenwood mgreenwood@pacbell.net wrote in hi frank i think the money would be better spent on a good power amp driven by the stock head unit and perhaps better speakers. too bad the stock speaker mounting locations suck so bad. my main problem is that the stock head wont play cds stuffed with mp3s and wmas ida thunk that a 2003 vehicle with a supposedly upgraded sound system could do this. oh well... --mike joe avoidingspam@hotmail.com wrote yes the infinity amp is very heavily eqd to compensate for the lousy frequency response of the speakers. theres tons of low end around 50-60hz and the high end is definitely lacking. the whole thing cant be pushed too hard or the speakers start flapping and farting. i have a 95 so this may not apply. but my front speakers two ways were covered with a grill cloth that low pass filtered out most of the highs. i took out the speakers and saw this almost opaque cloth so i ripped it off and put the speakers back in - it made a world of difference. give it a try its free. until you run your head unit directly to the speakers hopefully new components bypassing the factory stuff youll be locked into the substandard sound of the oem infinity amp/speakers. i think the money would be better spent on a good power amp driven by the stock head unit and perhaps better speakers. too bad the stock speaker mounting locations suck so bad. frank ball frankb@sonic.net .

but since the right axle tends to spin more than the left one it is still favored. lol favored whatever..... again the conditions existing determine the axle that will spin. neither axle is more prone to spinning or more affected by those conditions than the other. a mechanical contraption designed to allow a difference in axle speed with no bias built in will not favor either axle. horse pucky. the limited slip or in the dodge anti spin or sure grip isnt standard because it costs more. bullshit. if this were true then all of the trucks on the lot would be stripped down work specials. again more crap. options are oredered on in stock vehicles to enhance sales not because of cost. most of the ones on the lot are loaded to the teeth with options and they all cost more. i think that the limited slip option is about $150.00 not much additional cost when compared to the heated leather seats many of them have. so what the lsd is optional because customers want a choice and that includes the choice to pay less. all of this is bs to obscure your obvious lack of knowledge on the subject and has nothing to do with how an lsd operates or can be driven safely. well yes and no....... no it is just yes. incorrect. any equipment is dangerous in the wrong or untrained hands. in the right hands or with proper training any piece of equipment can be safe. thus in regard to danger its a yes and no situation. now you are comparing apples to oranges again. gee i wonder if that has anything to do with the running characteristics of the diesel over a gas engine. you are avoiding the subject due to lack of proof and information. in 4wd the truck all but refuses to do anything but follow the front tires. that is a property of fwd or 4wd and has nothing to do with the discussion here. lol again wrong but you dont seem to know why. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

trey youre confusing certain aftermarket lsd designs with the factory dana traclok design. on the factory setup the clutch packs are always engaged and slip at a pre-determined torque limit. this is why for example when you put the vehicle in neutral and jack up one rear tire you cant turn that wheel easily like you can with an open diff. however if you put a breaker bar on a lug nut and apply enough torque you will overcome the friction of the clutches and it will turn. this is what happens during cornering and why one wheel will break loose around a corner in slick conditions because there isnt enough friction between the tire and the road surface to overcome the friction of the clutch packs in the lsd. there are at least 4 major designs to what we generically call a lsd. theres the clutch method above the torque-activated clutch system of an eaton the tapered cone clutches of an auburn the all-gear torque biasing of the torensen differential and probably some others as well. they all work a little differently. or just once or twice and then self-destruct as in the gm g80 .................... .

max while i cant remember the exact name there is a type of limited slip that trey is describing tho it is not used by dodge. subaru used them in a few of the top-of-the-line awd models back in the late 80s and may still be using it today. simply put both axles are turning but at a different rpm would push a roller up an inclined plane and wedge the roller to a case-locking both axles together but it would not engage if one of the axles was not turning. id have to go out to the shed dig around piles of old training books to get any perticulars. im sure it exists but what you describe isnt a limited slip clutch thats a roller clutch. itll either lock or unlock but it will not have a limited slip function. the typical lsd like the ones found in dodge trucks over the years have a constant spring load that keeps the clutches engaged at all times. if you do find anything on the one you are talking about id like to see more on it. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

well ive just put the third turn signal in my 1999 durango. ive come to the conclusion the basic design of the flasher is defective and is asking for trouble. the first turn signal flasher went out after 1.5 years. my turn signals started to be erratic or they stuck. eventually the turn signal fuse started to blow every week or so. after a week of trying to find the problem i decided to test the flasher. every try to find the flasher in a 99 durango its up behind the fuse panel located under the far left side of the dash. i pulled the flasher out and half of the green cover was melted off the flasher looks like an electrical relay on an iso type multi-prong base. but its not anything standard. its really just a 555 like electronic timer running a relay. well for $42 i would expect more. i replaced the flasher and things worked ok for a another two years. just last week my flasher began to blow fuses again. this time the fuse would blow only when my right turn signal was activated. i though there might have been a bulb problem so i replace all the turn signal bulbs. things didnt get better. i then noticed the right rear turn signal assembly had a little water behind it. the area behind the assembly isnt water tight and open to the outside so i waterproofed all of the connections with conductive grease and silicone sealer. it didnt do any good. i replaced the flasher and things worked ok for a while. i took the old flasher apart and noticed there was some brown discoloration on the inside of the housing. maybe the flasher was starting to overheat again. now im on my third flasher and out $84. then last week my flasher started to stick when flashing. it would flash 3 to 20 times and then stick on. but if i turned on the 4-ways it flashed all the time. hmmmm sounds like a current sensitive problem. when it sticks it would start again if i just tap the flasher. then it would stick again. so i took the flasher apart. they have gotten cheaper over the years. there is no real hinge on the relay part of the flasher. its kind of a tab stuck into a slot. this kind of hinge doesnt really work that well because it binds. so i took a pair of needle nose pliers and some emery cloth to the contacts. now the hinge kind of works and my turn signals dont stick any more. so my question is why replace a $5 flasher with a $42 piece of junk that has to be replaced after two years i dont tow so i havent exceeded the rating of the flasher. even the parts guy at the dealership asked how many ive gone through. i said this is the third one in 5 years and he said its about right. dodge durango turn signal flasher are cr@p. overall ive very disappointed with my durango. two replacement turn signal flashers. serpentine belt replacement at year 4 but replaced again after 11 months. dealer says my torque converter is prematurly locking up but they wont cover it on warranty. gas mileage hovers around 10 mpg in town and 13 mpg on the open road. two of the shocks leaked after 2 years so i replaced all four. am i unusual or am i the rule ive heard from other local durango owners they have had similar problems. .

ok.... to set the record straight. the condensation that you are seeing in the oil filler tube is common on the 4.7l and 3.7l engines and is not harmful in any way and will not cause any problems. this condensation build up was quite common years ago on engines that had an external oil filler tube. most manufacturers went to an oil fill in the rocker cover and the condensation doesnt develop there but on the 3.7 and 4.7 engines a rocker cover oil fill is not practical. in our dealership we have sold literally thousands of vehicles with these engines since their introduction in 99 and i have yet to see even one fail so i think that the class action thing another poster alluded to is just internet gossip. i think when you check with your dealer you will find he will confirm what i am telling you. enjoy your new truck and dont give the milky emulsion around the oil filler tube a second thought. chryco service manager member sae i have read in previous posts about some owners trying to get a class action against chrysler regarding engine failure on the 4.7. many of them reported similar problems but almost none of them got any satisfaction from the dealer. try a google group search for chrysler 4.7 engine failure+class action for more inform

i agree that the fix they will do for you is only a cover-up. good luck. i was making my third oil change in my 03 ram w/ 4.7 v8 this afternoon and noticed a milky coffee colored residue on the inside of my oil filler tube. it looks like oil and water mix..that has gotten pretty hot and is now kind of slushy. i checked the oil that i dained from the pan and it was all black with no signs of water or the milky white substance. it looks like the whitish colored gunk is entering the tube from the pcv valve. has anyone else had this problem i thought the purpose of the pcv valve was to pull vapor and pressure from the crankcase i am just trying to figure out how so much moisture might have gotten and still be in the line from the block to the pcv assembly. i am going to take it to the dealership in the morning but just curious to see if anyone else has ever experienced this. thanks. its a normal condition on the 4.7. not a good one though. the dealer fix is to place an insert into the filler tube that will mask but not eliminate the condensation residue. wayne . 222 278026 fzxxb.25864$nu1.22109@svr25..prodigy.com did you look at the owners manual i thought i had the same problem with my wifes 01 tahoe. a drl went out and when i opened the hood to replace it all kinds of crap was in the way. i figured it would take me an hour or more to get to that little lamp. so...i went to that big book in the glovebox before i started tearin stuff apart. turns out that theres a *very* accessible l shaped pin that you turn and pull. the whole lens then slides out from the front. replaced the bulb put the lens in and replaced the pin. it took longer to find it in the manual than it did to replace the bulb. g did the other side at the same time. good luck. --mike anyone my wife has a 98 caravan and the drivers side turn signal bulb died. i went to go replace it thinking this was going to be a simple 2 min. job. turns out the fuse block is in front and so is another large piece attached beside the wheelwell. is there some sort of trick to getting your hand in theer to get at the turn signal. my wife tried and she has very small hands.......not even close to getting at it. any ideas .

van louis eijssen louisenpetra@home.nl onderwerp this is the only way to get rich datum maandag 16-02-2004 get very rich!!! make millions!!! free money!!! i found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it a little while back i was browsing through groups and e-mails just like you are nowand came across an article similar to this that said you can make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00!! so i thoughtyeah right this must be a scam but like most of us i was curious so i kept reading. anyway it said that you send $1.00 to each of the six names and addresses stated in the article. you then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at $6.00 and post the article in at least 200 groups. there are thousands no catch that was it. so after thinking it over and talking to a few people first i thought about trying it. i figured what have i got to lose; except six stamps and $6.00 right right then i invested the measly $6.00. well guess what!!!...............within seven days i started getting money in the mail!! i was shocked!! i figured it would end soon but the money just kept coming in. in my first week i made about $25.00. by the end of the second week i had made a total of more than $1000.00!! in the third week i had more than $10000.00 and its still growing!! this is now my fourth week and i have made a total of $42000.00 and its still coming rapidly. its certainly worth $6.00 and six stamps but i have spent more than on the lottery!! let me tell you how this works and most important why it works..........also make sure you print this out now so you can get the information off of it as you need it. i promise you that if you follow the directions exactly that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something so easy!! suggestion read this entire message carefully!! print it out or download it follow the simple directions and watch the money come in!! its easy. its legal. and your investment is only $6.00 plus postage ! important this is not a rip-off it is decent; its legal; and it is virtually no risk - it really works!! if all the following instructions are adhered to you will receive extraordinary dividends. please note please follow the directions exactly and $50000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. please continue its success by carefully adhering to the instructions. you will now become apart of the mail order business. you are in the business of developing mailing lists. many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. however the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list. here are the four easy steps to success. step one get six separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper please put me on your mailing list. now get 6 u.s. $1.00 bills and place one inside of each of the six pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope to prevent thievery. next place one paper in each of the six envelopes and seal them. you now should have six sealed envelopes each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase your name and address and a $1.00 bill. what you are doing is creating a service. this is absolutely legal!!!!! you are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for it!! like most of us i was a little skeptical and little worried about the legal aspects of it all. so i checked it out with the u.s. post office 1-800-238-5355 and they confirmed that it is indeed legal!! mail the six envelopes to the following addresses 1 r. lillevold mllegade 86 8660 skanderborg denmark 2 thomas gauss p.o.b. 93655 los angeles c.a. 90093-9998 3 tony butler 2700 hood rd ridgeway sc 29130 4 d butta 12930 boothtown road citronelle alabama 36522 5 petra cruts donboscostraat 10 6235 ej ulestaten the netherlands the netherlands 6 louis eijssen bergerstraat 47 a 6226 ba maastricht the netherlands step two now take the #1 name off the list that you see above move the other names up six becomes 5 5 becomes 4 and etc. and add your name as number 6 on the list. step three change anything you need to but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. now post your amended article to at least 200 groups. i think there are close to 24000 groups all you need is 200but remember the more you post the more money you make!! this is perfectly legal!! if you have any doubts refer to title 18 sec. 1302 & 1341 of the postal lottery laws. keep a copy of these steps for yourself and whenever you need money you ca

i guess i dont understand what youre asking. odometer display were talking about a code reader here not a mileage meter. the reader tells you what error codes the computer has stored in its memory so you can figure out what problems your vehicle has. in short yes it can give a ton more info than your odometer gives. michael greenwood wrote you cant judge the quality of a product based the sample manual provided on the net by a reseller. thats certainly true but it sure doesnt give a good first impression which we first know is everything. you still didnt mention though does it give more info than my odometer display i still cant see spending 40 bucks on something i already have. --mike from my experience the manual that comes with the product from hf is a lot better than the scanned manual. the reason why the code is given is because the code just points you in the right direction. o2 sensor voltage could be anything from corroded wires to a faulty ground somewhere. using a number is easier to point out the exact area to look. i almost got one but the wife said shed get it for me for xmas and then couldnt remember which one i wanted. one of the neighbors got one and ive borrowed it a couple of times. it works very well and the manual is much better in person than the one on the net. you cant judge the quality of a product based the sample manual provided on the net by a reseller. michael greenwood wrote im curious does that reader do anything more than the odometer display on my 03 when i do the key on-off-on-off-on thingy it spits out a code then you just look it up. now...for 40 bucks if the display said o2 sensor voltage instead of a code wed be cookin here. i also looked at the pdf manual available for download. it looked as if it were scanned by my 4 year-old. simply based on that i wouldnt waste the 40 bucks. the product quality is prolly the same. --mike hi has anyone bought the obd ii reader from harbor freight that they sell for $39.99 they call it call a universal code reader catalog no.46030-1hch. is it any good and will it work on my 98 dakota thanks alan to reply by email replace nospam with comcast in my address .

im looking for any information about any special tools that may be needed to replace the upper ball joints. on a 1996 ram 1500 with 2 wheel drive. the manual mentions a tool by number however my local rental place knows nothing about it. i use a c-frame ball joint press that i got from harbor freight similar to this one http//www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.tafitemnumber=42236 that kit looks like it comes with all the proper adapters to use for your truck. sometimes tools from harbor freight can be of less-than-desirable quality. i can tell you ive beat the snot out of mine once even pressing a u-joint cross through a bearing cap with a sound about as loud as a ..45acp cartridge and never did any damage to the tool itself the u-joint was a different story - and the yoke needed a bit of attention as well. .

bruce wrote both of my 5.9l engines leak oil from somewhere in the rear of the engine which drips onto the exhaust manifolds and transmission bell housings. intake manifold gaskets or what thanks bruce if it drips on the exhaust manifolds its probably the valve covers. clean the engine really well with a quality degreaser and some hot water. let it sit until completly dry. then spread flour around the suspect areas. run the engien for a while. look for the discolored flour to pinpoint the leak. i hear that trick works on fat women too. .

this is odd... i had a dakota with the 4.7 and the air filter was available from fram purolator etc. was easy to find and cost about the same as all the others. i bought mine at walmart. i cant imagine why the filter for the 1500 would be all that different... yep the one for the 1500 is different from the one for the dakota. its a little wider. i was in an autozone the other day trying to find one. no luck. the guy behind the counter said he could order one sigh... and he looked it up on his computer. the only one available was by stp and was $30. every other filter including stp filters was like $4 - $10. it cant be because this is a new engine either. ive bought new fram filters for 2004 vehicles and its the same thing; readily available price $4-$8 etc. its like every single filter on the market is priced 75% lower than this specific filter and its just a plain vanilla filter no different from any other. well not much else you can say about it i guess. hopefully the price will go down eventually. maybe i can get the shop-vac and suck some dirt out of it or something. ron m. .

yes one might think so but in fact there is no difference in the axle rear end springs other than the addition of the overloads brakes or anything else between the diesel ho 2500 and ho srw 3500. confirmation is available by comparing the specs http//www.turbodieselregister.com/prelease090102/5specifications.pdf or by simply looking at both vehicles. dont know why this is so but to find out i suspect you would have to ask the marketing department not engineering if you catch my drift. jerry wrote s. miller wrote i think you are comparing to the dual rear wheel 3500... i was comparing the single rear wheel versions of both vehicles. the 2003 ho 2500 has a gvwr of 9000 lbs. and the 2003 single rear wheel ho 3500 has a gvrw of 9900 lbs. the only difference between the two is the overload springs on the 3500. understood but i dont think it is because of the overload springs. must be something different somewhere to make a difference. axle rear end springs or something................. jerry .
