47Re noise
From : brian
Q: i had stated in a previous post that i had a loud grind noise comming from the lockup tcc. seems that the noise in the tranny was the converter shuddering very loudly durring lockup. with a new factory converter noise has gone away. however now i dont trust it anymore anyhow since the tech told me it was also slipping very slowly he noted seeing 25-75 rpm of slip. i am thinking about upgrading to a ats suncost or dacco converter with low stall billit covers and maybe increased clutch plates for lockup. they also make valvbody with lockup in 1st -4th gears maybe that can help keep me from rosting the atf every 15000 miles. anyone have experience with those converters looking for the better one. also anyone out there using amsoil atf in there trannys inplace of the atf+4 i would like to do this also how does that effect warrenty i have to wonder thanks .

has anyone tried the bd rebuild transmission as we were comming back from alaska a couple of years ago i talked to the bd chief engineer in canada regarding improving the dodge transmission on our 95 cummins diesel. he informed me that they were about to finish testing a transmission modification along with a new high efficiency torque concerter and i believe the price to be about $2500-3000 usd. if they suceed i am certainly considering getting it done even if it means a extra trip to canada. i already installed the transmission pressure booster to get rid of the chatter when pulling a havy load it works pretty well. emil still wondering if anyone had tried any aftermarket converters. i still think they could help me get the 10000lbs moving with less destruction to the tranny. .

well i definatly dont need to deal with a shuddering converter clutch again. i will stick with the mopar atf+4 fluid unless i can get my hands on the true amsoil atf+4 the nosey posted about earlier at http//www.awdist.com/productsforcummins.html#anchor778176 .

its not compatible its not even close to atf +3 and using +3 in a vehicle that requires +4 will give you converter clutch shudder out the wazoo same goes for valvolines max-life its supposed to be atf +3 and atf +4 compatible but it peeled the lining off the high-energy frictions in a 604 we did last summer you can however use +4 in a vehicle that calls for +3 though it will cost a bunch more atf +3 mopar part number is 05010125aa atf +4 mopar part number is 05013458aa this is for gallon containers i didnt know they made atf+4. i have only found the universal atf on there website it is said on the page that it is compatible with atf+1 to atf+4. http//www.amsoil.com/products/atf.html .
