Q: ok since a hemi 5.7 isnt practical how about a 360 will a 360 run ok on the 5.2 engine control computer or is reprograming or replacement necessary i can buy a 95 360 for $250 & rebuild it. has anyone run a 5.9 on a 5.2 computer any other problems with this i dont want a race engine just a good rv puller more torque & a fresh motor. dick --- outgoing mail is certified virus free. checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.522 / virus database 320 - release date 9/29/2003 .

you are just as well using the 5.2 and not changing over to the 5.9. there is only 10hp difference between them. ok since a hemi 5.7 isnt practical how about a 360 will a 360 run ok on the 5.2 engine control computer or is reprograming or replacement necessary i can buy a 95 360 for $250 & rebuild it. has anyone run a 5.9 on a 5.2 computer any other problems with this i dont want a race engine just a good rv puller more torque & a fresh motor. dick --- outgoing mail is certified virus free. checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.522 / virus database 320 - release date 9/29/2003 .

but whats the torque difference torque is what does the work when towing or hauling. ive got the 318 5.2 predecessor in my 79 and on the move from co to ut i would rather have had a 360 or a big block even though the 318 did a good job. budd jps e-mail wrote you are just as well using the 5.2 and not changing over to the 5.9. there is only 10hp difference between them. ok since a hemi 5.7 isnt practical how about a 360 will a 360 run ok on the 5.2 engine control computer or is reprograming or replacement necessary i can buy a 95 360 for $250 & rebuild it. has anyone run a 5.9 on a 5.2 computer any other problems with this i dont want a race engine just a good rv puller more torque & a fresh motor. dick --- outgoing mail is certified virus free. checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.522 / virus database 320 - release date 9/29/2003 .

redneck tookover hell wrote some guys have no concept of torque and what it means my point exactly. they also have no concept of the rpm at which peak torque and hp occur and what it means. true. peak torque on my engine is at about 3400 as it is configured right now 79 318 with a 72 360 degree 2 bbl carb and manifold simple duals with no h pipe. but i also cant achieve that max torque figure unless the carb is wide open. partial throttle gives partial torque. chrysler electronics are so hard to redo that the poster would have to check with a shop in his area that deals in electronic fuel injection for answers to his questions on his vehicle. it all relates to whether the 3185.2 computer has enough variable built in to handle the fuel flow for the larger engine. the other poblem is needing a 3605.9 convertor due to the external balance. the 318 is internal and a 360 is external. that and the differing motor mounts is why i just overhauled the 318 in my truck. then there is a possibility that the transmissions are different and dont interchange convertor wise. my rig has the 727 . . just use the right flex plate. btw b&m makes a flexplate with the correct balance to allow internal balance engine torque converters to be used on the 360. theres not a bunch of these swaps being done because chryco made it so complicated as opposed to the gm electronics when are easily programmable and bolt patterns are the same etc for bolt on things or just grab an aftermarket unit. budd .
