Q: homocide sounds like a good option to me. seriously though wave the lemon law at them and demand your money back. i would run away from this and threaten to sue for fraud. you might consult a lawyer. .

if that is all that is wrong with your truck id pay the 1600 to rebuild it and drive for it 4yrs. cummins engines dont need to be overhauled until 300000 so you have a lot of life left on your engine. hello i have a problem that is slowly getting worse with my 95 dodge-cummins with automatic. about 8 months ago i noticed if i was really accelerating aggressively and then suddenly took my foot off of the gas something would slip for about 3 times in real fast succession and then everything would be ok. today that is happening much easier with a new symptom showing up. if i tow a heavy boat in this case about 9000# as i get up to 50-55mph and the overdrive starts to lock up i am getting the same slippage. i have been hitting the switch to turn the od off then waiting until i am at 60+mph and then turn the od on with very little or no acceleration and the truck is ok with that. obviously this problem is not going to fix it self. so.....i went to the transmission shop down the street and he says that its the torque converter. he says i could just replace it for $500 but with the truck having 165k on it i should get the whole transmission remanufactured for which he charges $1600. the boat is put away for the winter as is the 5th wheel so i dont have to panic in fixing this truck as i dont need it until next spring. i would like to make a quality decision on how to handle this. i am 6 years from retiring and use the truck maybe 6000 miles a year. i was planning on getting a newer truck in 4 years. any thoughts or comments about any part of this missive would be appreciated. thanks for the help....dave .

thanks for the advice and comments. believe me i feel a heck of a lot better after reading these post. i have a 26-5c arctic fox 2006 5th wheel on order due end of october. i visited the dealer today and found he has a 2005 model sitting in his inventory. he told me that the previous owner had a 360 dodge gas truck and had problems pulling this unit. frankly this scared the blazes out of me. my truck is a 97 - 3/4 ton ctd 12 valve. i know the truck has 180 hp and 420 ft lbs of torque. its an auto. transmission and i dont intend ever using the od feature with this new trailer. i know nothing about the power of a 360 dodge vs my truck. do i need to be worried .

i am unsure just exactly what is rotating. i need to put a mark on the shaft and the knob itself to see if/what is rotating wrote 2004 ctd 6 speed. ever since i bought this truck the gear shift pattern on the top of the gear shifter is slowly turning in a clockwise direction. it takes approximately 10k miles to make a complete circle. the knob is not loose it does not seem as if the shifter shaft is loose. anyone else having this problem or know of a solution thanks in advance -- joe my 92 does the same thing. my 04 six speed doesnt yet on the 92 if i put mild pressure on the insert and twist it will slowly turn back. and it twists even if i dont drive the truck i thought vibration was causing it but it temperature. cycling from hot to cold and back to hot turns it. al is it the whole shift knob or is it one where theres a little metal decal in the center either way you could just get a new shift knob $3-$50 depending on how nice or you can pull up the little metal one and get some epoxy. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-gear-position-indicator-movement-ftopict140420.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=679390 .

on wed 05 oct 2005 121842 gmt m.j.p. a.anitoli@verizon.net wrote i need to replace the tires on my 2000 dakota. the original owner threw away the oem tires fairly early on and installed passenger car tires 20mm larger i know im going back to the standard p215/75r15 but dont know whether to buy a passenger car tire or what is stated to be a truck and suv tire. looking at goodyears in both cases. i just wonder if there is really any advantage to the blockier tread on a goodyear tracker or if its mostly appearance and theyre charging more for the idea its a truck tire. the only advantage to goodyear tires is you will have to buy another set in about 15-20k. absolute shit. my last 3 new dodges all had goodyear tires and all had to be replaced at around 15k. if you want a good tire go with a bfg. just my personal thought on this. mjp. we must slow down for more corners or something.. lol got 42k on the good years... went to replace them and the tire guy said come back in about 5000 miles after you inflate them the outside showed wear the middle of the tread was great.. we changed them anyway to get rid of the goodyear and go with bridgestone.. mac please remove splinters before emailing .

i seriously doubt your tires are old. look around...youll see those tires on just about everything....well here in the states anyway. put those puppies on and go ride. dont sweat the small stuff. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. in the battle between money and love money will always triumph i may have to change my signature......on second thought i was right the first time. suddenly without warning lance lafrinier exclaimed 06-oct-05 237 pm thanks to all that recommended tirerack.com for ordering tires. it took less than a month to deliver my 4 michelin ltx m/s tires. ive visually checked the tires over sidewalls are smooth - no bulges or pits or anything nothing obvious on the tread... is there anything else in particular i should look for in the way of defects or shipping damage they just slap some tape and a couple of ties around each pair of tires arent shipped in a box or anything. before you install them id check the date of manufacture...you should be able to find instructions on how to decipher the date code online. i wouldnt want to install tires that were already a couple of years old. where would i find the date code i dont remember seeing one when i checked out the copious data on the sidewall lots more data than my current tires!. wouldnt tires a couple of years old be obviously distorted or flat where theyd been sitting my bikes certainly was other than that why would old but unused tires be bad jmc .

unfortunately part of that $550 might be an import tarriff. it doesnt make any sense. i doubt that chile manufactures their own pumps so what local industry is that tarriff protecting take toms advice. john .
