2500 5-speed manual transmission
From : woody
Q: ummmm... me thinks you need to proofread your posts before hitting the send button. ^ mike well ive got a 2002 2500 ram diesel and enjoy the manual trans on it... very easy to shit and smooth... mike i have a 97 ram 1500 4x4 with a 5-speed manual and have been very happy with it. nice smooth shifting transmission. we are considering ordering a new 2500 4x4 and as i am still partial to a manual trans i would probably bypass the automatic. use includes towing the horse trailer and plowing our long driveway which is real hard on the 1500. of course we have not been able to find a new 2500 with manual trans anywhere in new england to test drive. does anyone have experience with the nv-4500 manual transmission as the wife will also be a driver a smooth shifting trans would sure be nice. i would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience. also is the 5-speed automatic good enough so that i should consider setting aside my manual trams bias in the past dodge did not have a good reputation for reliability in the automatics. one other small but very important item the cup holders. my 97 has what i consider an optimum design with the cup holders high above the shift leaver. the 2004 slt automatic that we test drove had the cup holders low right where a manual shift leaver would be and there is no provision in the dash design for a high mount. so what is the situation with a manual trans thanks btw it is a nice minus 9 degrees with minus 30 wind chill here in central nh at 830 am. .

just change your name and noone will know the difference ive stirred a hornets nest here by my own doing. i asked an unethical question and was rightly slammed for it. i made things worse by challenging eveyones integrity and thinking the issue was no big deal by making excuses. im actually pleased that there is still a lot of honesty out there. im the new owner of my first dodge pickup after having three f-150s. i find that usenet groups are a valuable source of info and i dont want to be a pariah here from the get go. by being an ass from the get go please accept this apology to the group and i ask for a second chance. thanks keith t. .

but the thing is that it is not a waste of money especially if you compare it to dealer parts costs for the paper filter. my truck is currently getting 16 mpg on the highway traveling at speeds in excess of 80 mph which to me is amazing. too bad it only gets about 8 to 10 in the city where it spends most of its time. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving 16 at 80 what truck do you have i get about 11-12 at 80 a 97 dodge ram 1500 318 5 speed standard cab roll back bed cover platinum plugs and a k$n filter. it amazes me too but actually it is more like 15. 450 miles on about 30 gallons of fuel single trip. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

lighten up!! the guy did nothing wrong and nothing more out of line than a waitress asking if youd like dessert or trying to get you to supersize your order! caveat emptor is a law as old as time....maybe thats why its still in latin... wow...somebody tried to sell you something at a car dealership. what is the world coming to!!!!!! get over it. no they didnt rob me. but its the principle of the matter. my truck is used for light duty so i follow schedule a and the rear axle service is not mentioned in that schedule for 12000 miles. i told him that. but he went on to say that the resale value would be lower if i didnt have this service performed in short he tried to pressure me into the service. and i did elect not to have the service performed but what about the poor soul who is mechanically challenged all that person has to depend on is the honesty of the shop. i truly believe this guy was testing me to see how much i knew about a vehicle. i hope im wrong bowza how did they rob you the advisor pointed out that the maintenance schedule called for servicing the rear axle which you confirmed in your owners manual after you returned home. did they lie to you did they charge you for a service they didnt perform did they try to sell you something that wasnt recommended by the manufacturer if you have a problem with the recommendation of a 12k axle service take it up with the engineers at d/c not the dealer. the service advisor was just doing his job and after all it is your truck you can elect to follow the maintenance schedule or not. chryco service manager member sae i just got my 02 ram 1500 serviced this morning and i think its a shame the way you have to watch the dealerships they will pick you clean if you let them. i believe in changing the oil every 3000 miles and the spark plugs at 30000 and even the transmission fluid at 30000 but the rear axle fluid every 15000 is where i draw the line. the guy wouldnt even look me in the eye when i called him on it. i came home and looked at my manual and found it in the schedule b and it said 12000 if your gonna rob someone at least get the scam right. this is the first dodge ive owned and im very happy with it so far but i think i need to find a better dealership or at least one that is selling a lot of vehicles so they wont have to make up the difference in the service department. i may be overreacting just a little but so dont pay too much attention to me lol .

cbhvac stephenaddressscfrewedonpurpose@carolinabreezehvac.com wrote in easy...you got to be cool...bet you got loud pipes and those cool tips on your truck... some people like those. maybe you dont. so whats the problem some people want to look cool. not everybody wants a confederate flag in the back window and a kennel in the bed. the world is full of many types and theyre not all going to be like you. and theres nothing wrong with that. define cool what is cool to me may not be cool to you. thats the point. if someone thinks it is cool to have tips on their exhaust and gets them and you or i think its stupid so what im not going to critisize that person for what they like. ditto the confederate flag and kennel. everybody is different - thats what makes the world so interesting. but some close-minded people shudder when they see something different from what they believe and will even critisize them in groups like this.. some people dont care what their ride looks like. others care a lot. some a helluva lot. so what to each his or her own! whether or not a k&n filter is a good idea is a legitimate technical question but then to tie that to other items that are clearly a matter of personal choice is simply childish. to start whining that these are the people with loud pipes and cool tips exposes the biases of the author. if someone wants to put a flowmaster and tips on their truck what difference should that make to the rest of us lol..god...you guys are as easy as we are to rile up about k+n... if you only knew...some do and thus why that post was funny to some. ever heard an uncorked kb 426 no come on over...oh...and its got cool tipson it too only they are stainless and 4 inch... .

are you looking for a cast iron factory unit or an aftermarket aluminum unit the cast iron will likely be easier to find if you go with a 360 4bbl intake. swap on a set of 360 heads to match the port size if its of concern. most of the aluminum intakes will be for the larger 340/360 port size but should bolt on to the 318 with no problem. hi max an old cast iron stock intake will be fine i just want to put a 4 barrel on my m880. i dont expect a whole lot from it just want more than the puny stock setup its currently running. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

they seem to be approaching the problem as though i have a slipping issue. it does not slip. once its in the proper gear it is solid as a rock. even in 1st or 2nd gear there is absolutely no slippage. the fluid is nice and red not burnt. there is plenty of fluid and it does not leak. someone suggested that i replace the throttle position sensor to see if that would help but it really didnt. have someone do a diagnostic on it. sounds as though the problem is electronically created. any problems with the cruise control or speedo acting weird getting codes from the trans control module would be the first step. right after ya stop taking it to the dealer that seems to have its head up its collective rectum. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

jon rose wrote i started having trouble putting gas in my 98 grand caravan sport a few weeks ago other than the price of gas. they changed all the nozzles in my area to the type with a corrugated rubber sheath that seals against the filler neck. i can pump a few gallons and then the nozzle shuts off. i need to remove the nozzle reinsert it and start pumping again. i need to repeat this process about 5 times to fill my tank 17-18 gallons. is there some type of pressure valve or vent that is blocked jon the pump will not operate if the nozzle is not held firmly against the filler neck. .

have an 84 dodge ram 150 p/u... current project truck. have something drawing current off the battery with truck sitting still no keys in the ignition nothing lights etc. on. current assumptions of course include short in wiring somewhere. have visually checked for cut/broken/shorted wiring... to no avail. looking for advice on best way to search for this source of the problem... help lol! thanks!!! use a dmm or vom in series with the battery to determine that you are in fact experiencing current flowing when it shouldnt be. start at the highest current range on the dmm/vom and step down in range til you get a midrange reading. then remove fuses one at a time until you determine which fused circuit if any is at fault. there are some things that arent fused though... the alternator output comes to mind. but pulling fuses is the easiest troubleshooting procedure to start with. bryan .
