thanks tom. youve been a lot of help. this thing is leaking progressive worse. im replacing the lost fluid with steering fluid stop leak and its running right on through just like the steering fluid does. do you know what the diameter of the drift punch would be off hand. i will get one made out of brass or aluminum if you have an idea what diameter id need. a standard drift that tapers down to 1/4 or so is what im talking about - you just work it around the bearing tapping it out. alternatively you can use the socket/extension deal to remove it as well. .

there are such things and yes they work very well provided they have been installed correctly. their purpose is to counteract electrolytic corrosion. this occurs when dissimilar metals are in contact through an electrolite solution. they work by monitoring the electric potential difference between 2 points and creating a couterbalencing potential and appying it. for intstance if you take a bronze propeller and throw it in the ocean. then in a hundred years remove the propeller. there might be growth but the prop would be intact. take the same propeller place it on the end of a stainless shaft stick it on a boat in the same ocean and with the slightest electric leakage on that boat and the prop could be wasted away in a year. these systems prevent that from occurring. however i think they have dubious value in a car. thanks for the explanation! im not sure if this would apply to a car but since its there why not use it. now i just wonder why it was left unplugged... maybe to reduce drain on battery peter .

tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net says... that connectors wiring goes straight to the pcm so if we assume for the moment that the pcm is functioning properly the only other possibility is a wiring problem. thanks for the advice. i checked the fuses and all is well. i dont have a multimeter so checking the wiring is out. where is the pcm located and is it safe to assume theres a connector going into it as well -- chris http//www.choxnpinz.com .

can the hub and bearing be removed with the axle eliminating the problem of removing the hub nut if not how do you break the nut loose it can but it would be awkward to work with. stick a big screwdriver into the vanes of hte rotor so that it jams up against the brake caliper. then just put a big socket/bar onto the axle nut after removing the cotter pin of course and back it off. i dont recall the size of the nut off-hand sorry... .

need assistance in removing the stock radio on 2000/v6/1500 pull the dash bezel off. start at the lower-right corner get your fingers behind it and just pop it off - its held on with metal spring clips. youll want the steering wheel tilted all the way down if you have a tilt wheel and shift into 1 if you have an auto set the parking brake first. once the bezel is off remove the screws holding the radio in. pull it out and disconnect the electrical and antenna connections. all in all pretty simple... .
