wrong again asshat whats the matter gary still upset over the torque converter an o2 sensor outputs high volts when the difference between inside and outside o2 levels is maximum zero volts when they are the same you are wrong as well asswipe. while you are correct on the response for oxygen content it does not compare the outside to the exhausr stream. it looks at the % content of oxygen in the exhaust stream only nope. it compares the oxygen content of the exhaust to ambient. that is why you never repair the wiring harness to an oxygen sensor. the typical four wire sensor gets its outside air thru the harness. if you taped/sealed/heat shrinked the harness youd ruin the sensor. ask me if i learned this the hard way a bunch of years ago.. denny so high volts would mean there is no o2 in the exhaust stream hence it is running very rich already not always. if the senssor is always high or high as in above expected voltages the computer will flag it as a problem which in this case it did and go into open loop mode which just about always results in lower mileage although sometimes in more power as well. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

jmc wrote just a quick followup. turns out i shoulda paid attention to the normal octane level of uk petrol - just got back from a 6-day trip and turns out ive been putting 95 octane in my tank every time we take a trip. oddly the one gas station i use locally has low octane gas. if theres a choice of one its always 95 octane. so since ive been using it on and off for a couple of years whatever damage is already being done. after this trip i noticed a bit of knocking. ill put lower octane in as soon as i use some of this up. is there any way to mitigate any damage already done there is no damage!!! the only danger there is is from using less octane than required not more. i do not know how in the world people ever started thinking that higher octane will damage engine. that is bizzare!!!! -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-high-octane-damage-engine-ftopict123488.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=611495 .

tom lawrence wrote why would you not want to put the tc in neutral because even though it disconnects the transfer case from the transmission it locks the front and rear driveshafts together. that will cause tire scrubbing at least as you make turns. good point but not all tcases do that and the front axle hubs or in this case disconnect will not be engaged so even if they were locked it would not really be a issue and if output shafts were turning like that it would pump lube through t case too. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-tow-3500-ftopict125514.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=611451 .

why would you not want to put the tc in neutral -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving can it be done yes. if its a 4x4 resist the temptation to put the transfer case in neutral... leave it in 2wd and the transmission in neutral. if its 2wd just put the transmission in neutral. if it were an automatic youd want to disconnect the rear driveshaft from the axle and tie it up to the frame. .

i ordered the rwal speed sensor from dodgeparts.com. the sensor promptly arrived today. replacing it was easy but a little uncomfortable. could have been much worse with a different vehicle. this fully took care of my truck problems. no idiot lights are lit up. abs check engine lights etc are all gone and my speedometer is functioning perfectly. thanks to everyone for your help and guidance. i .
