2005 Dakota disapointment

Q: miles wrote the oem shocks on my 2001 ram were junk. they were worn out by 10k miles. even when they were new the ride was horrible. back end shudder over speed bumps and bad control when turning. i dont need top of the line shocks just something decent. i put monroe senso-tracs on and the solved the problems i was having with the oems. the monroe sensa-tracs are good shocks and supposedly the monroe reflex shocks which im running now are a little better. i think i got a better ride from the sensa-tracs which i ran for about 60000 miles before switching to the reflex. just about anything beats the oem but some people seem to swear by them. for what kevin describes as his driving habits/conditions my opinion is the sensa-tracs would work just fine. jerry i think monroe has discontinued the sensa trac and replaced it with the reflex. how long have you had the reflexs and are you just as satisfied with them as the last set kevin .

what media are you watching ive read several reports both foreign and domestic. jeff the only one that pits liberal and conservatives views against each other doent allow one or the other to dominate the proceedings and allows you to think for yourself instead of subtly injecting their biased viewpoints into the horribly edited reporting . . .fox . try it if you dare. -- budd pres. bush john kerry has changed his position on the iraq war so many times he could debate himself. b.c. and lose. .

my 04 diesel is getting the same mileage as my 1/2 ton chevy 16-17mpg in mixed driving. the diesel isnt broke in yet but i dont expect much better 1-2mpg. odd that you are want a 3/4 ton truck for 140 mile commutes. how heavy are you i have heard that the older lower hp ctds are getting better mileage than the new ho ctds. might look at one of those if high mileage and payload are what you want. hi i am in the market for my first diesel. i currently own a 2002 ram 1500 360 cid. and have loved everything about it except the fuel economy. i have a few questions for those of you that own a cummins. i will be purchasing a 4x4 quad cab. 1 i drive 140 miles per day. about 80 hwy and 60 city. i have heard all manner of b.s. regarding the mpg i can expect. i have heard from as low as 15 mpg to 24 mpg i dont believe this for a second mainly because it came from the dealer. i dont drive like a maniac but i dont drive like granny either. what is reasonable to expect i live in dallas texas btw. mostly flat. 2 the dealer also told me that the automatic did not get any better milage than the 6-speed. i find this difficult to believe. what is the difference in mpg between the trannys 3 right now dodge is offering 1000.00 cash back until 11/1/2004. are the factory rebates towards the end of the year usually more than this thanks craig c. .

nope they are actually different now. the durango was origionally the same chassis but for what ever reason the new ones were developed seperately. i will have to find the article i read it in ether autoweek or car and driver. i just hope we still have the issue around the house somewhere and i will be able to quote it. but it said the dak did not have enough room for the hemi so it wont get one. really a shame! that is what i was holding out for! miles wrote thats odd. i thought the 2005 dakota was built on the same chassis as the 2004 durango which does have the hemi i have one!. trey wrote what are everyones thoughts on the new dakota i read that it will not have the hemi since the hemi wont clear the frame rails without a major redesign and the ho v8 is 260hp not too bad but its also a bigger truck! the added length is mainly in the nose with the protruding bumper. i will still have to drive one to see if its really worth it or not but for now i think i will keep my 99 dak until the next revision five years from now. unless they wise up and put a nice diesel in the new dak. .

nosey wrote jroach7808 wrote bob - what kind of vehicle are you dealing with year make & model would help! i think its for his 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92. yes it is. and i found the answer today. the drain is not on the left rear of the radiator. its on the left side just around the corner from where you usually find it. easy access is from the the hole in the front fascia that looks like it would be for a tow hook. you do not have to remove any of the plastic bits. theres a rubber tube about 5 long thats in a loop plugged in to the side of the radiator. you pull off top of the loop and aim the rubber tube towards the bucket. the petcock is a round plastic affair right near the rubber hose. use a pair of pliers and pull the tab straight out then rotate gently counterclockwise about 190*. thats right 190*. at 180* it drains very slowly. after its open spray with a little penetrating oil not wd-40 and it will work easier. now you know. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1983 gmc jimmy - mountain beater 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .
