dude you bought a truck. it is never going to be good. in a few thousand miles it will reach its best but even there you will only get between 12 and 14 mpg on average. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i just purchased a 2004 dodge ram 1500 4.7. at this point in time i only have 100 kms on the unit. can anyone tell me from experience at approx what mileage the unit starts getting its typical type of gas mileage as at this point in time the unit is quite hard on gas thanks dave .

bought a 2004 ram reg cab 1500 hemi march 10 i currently have 958 miles on it. got bout 13.2 mpg the last 200 miles. initially was getting 11.6 mpg w/out towing. mileage later improved to the lower 12s and than the upper 12s. i tow my boat/motor/trailer approx. 3000 lbs. twice a week 34 to 50 miles round trip. somewhere in the owners manual states the mileage will improved after 4000 miles. being light on the foot and not going over 55 is my best bet for getting 14 mpg - not an easy thing to do. i just purchased a 2004 dodge ram 1500 4.7. at this point in time i only have 100 kms on the unit. can anyone tell me from experience at approx what mileage the unit starts getting its typical type of gas mileage as at this point in time the unit is quite hard on gas thanks dave .
