2004 Durango Limited Automatic Temp Control (ATC)

From : sven

Q: hi has anyone had any problems with the atc automatic temperature control in the 2004 durango limited i have had mine since feb and all worked ok in the colder temps here in pa but now that the warmer temps and use of ac things are not working. what happens is that the control just reep re-starting / re-booting the display goes blank.. and blows heater air hot then ac starts then reboots againa and again.. if i set the control to manual it switches itself back to auto.... like it has a mind of its own... just curious as to what might be the problem... bad control module... or if this is a know defect or any tsbs that might be out there on this. thanks john .

his is a new design... 2004 in case you dont know always nice to know if this is a known issue and what to expect from a dealer... or a reset that can be done by user... like the man said its covered by warranty who cares take it in and have it fixed and quit dreaming up scenarios. take your meds and get rid of your paranoia politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

i already know what is going to happen tomorrow. ill get the cant duplicate the problem excuse and ill be fighting with the dealer for months. oh well. its too bad because i like the new durango a lot especially with the junior hemi. eisboch this is an easy one take the durango in when the a/c is not working. if it quits working the day before your appt dont shut it off till you get to the dealer. it is hard to fix something that is working. denny .

hi interesting seem like the same problem... my guess as an engineer would be that it is a software issue or microprocessor module problem.. i am interested to know if there were others with this problem too as the 2004 is a new design... and wonder what i am going to be up with my local dealer that has not seen any of these yet for repair work.. let me know what you find out and i will do the same.. i am expecting that the module will be needed to swap out and have to order it.. john .

hi eisboch this thread is amazing as you know this thing acts like it has a mind of its own and a nightmare to troubleshoot.. but many here have it all figured out... for us. well good is seems like mine did get fixed today here is the f i x for mine today... so to those than want to know more or cant get to a dealer soon might want to check this simple item. since i know that is no fun driving without defrost ac or vent this time of year. atc fix was intermittent power connection at the fuse block for the idc connection / fuse as installed at the factory.. so far it is working got to love the net everyone has an opinion and can do what they want or need too... not a matter of paranoia... but not needing to justify why i person would like more techie facts about a known problem or not to be prepared to do more homework on it... besides where i live now.. the dealer here have no durangos 2004 on the lot or even sold one here in the country so any help to guide me and them is always a good start... the forum here it exchange info and share... .

what kind of comment is this almost not worth the time to respond.. but this is a new design... 2004 in case you dont know always nice to know if this is a known issue and what to expect from a dealer... or a reset that can be done by user... love it...on the internet there is always the paranoria from not knowing. holy crap man its a new design alright so you get to be one of the first to find out if its a known defect or not. you get to be the guiena pig. you get to go out and work all the bugs out and in the process you get to do it in an area that you dont even have a dodge dealer that would be like me living in antartica and buying a pos saab. hell...wait..thats like living in any civilized country and buying a saab. .
