Q: a comparison of variuos model and engines loaded and unloaded and then will do a cost per mile too when comapared to diesels at current fuel costs. it is a imformative not a race. oh right... to further your quest to prove that diesels are more expensive to operate. good luck with that... .

poorman wrote thanks al. ive done the tests in my haynes manual. nowhere does it mention anything about the ammeter. ed an ammeter measures the magnetic field around the wires and gives an indication based on magnetic field strength which is proportional to current flow. on my 79 i pulled the bad ammeter out when i measured battery voltage at 12.7 volts and the ammeter didnt show any charge. i modified the dash insert to hold a similar sized voltmeter. i picked up my system voltage from the connection i made when i joined the two ammeter wires together dont forget to insulate this connection!!! budd .

yea suppose your right. shit does happen. did not know for sure if there was a more technical reason why. but thats cool. ill take that answer. i do put alot of miles on my truck. i commute at least 120 miles aday back and forth to work. and use 87 octane since that is what the manual calls for. that really depends on how much and what type of mileage you put on them now doesnt it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving $400 for the part as well as for them to put it on. i am just trying to figure out why it would have went out so soon.. because its an electrical part and following one of the fundamental laws of the universe sometimes shit happens. .
