2003 Ram 2500 w/Transfer Case Leak
From : tom lawrence
Q: has anyone else with this truck experienced this leak with or without the lift if you have a lift did you experience a leak skyjacker used to recommend a 3/4 spacer block be installed up to you to make it underneath the center carrier bearing bracket on the two-piece driveshafts to eliminate any driveline shudder. do you have a two-piece or one-piece driveshaft if you have the two-piece id give that a try. if its a one-piece theres not a heck of a lot that can be done short of shimming the rear axle to rotate the pinion up a bit. a permanent albiet drastic solution would be to install a slip yoke eliminator kit in the transfer case and have the driveshaft modified or a new one built with u-joints on both ends. .

hi i have a 1995 dodge van and this is my first post on this van to this group..it really has been a great truck for me. my question is what tranny do i have in my van model number etc. its a three speed and not a 4 spd over drive unit. i was also wondering what it would cost to rebuilfd this tranny. i had this idiot take a little fluid out of my tranny after i felt that i put to much tranny fluid in. i had added one of those trans x conditioners to try andhelp tighten up shifting and then realized it might be to much. in fact im sure it was some of the fluid started to come out of my bell housing. or maybe it was just starting to develope a leak...so the guy removes the line to the cooler and then breaks it. he puts a new hose on and luckily i checked it the next day. the hose was to big and it was crimped. now im not sure if this problem is related but i get a shudder at like 55 to 70 miles per hour. i never had this shudder before but im not sure if its related. i did take the cooler line off and remofed all the tranny fluid i then dropped the pan and changed the fiilter also. i put the recomended tranny fluid back in. upon inspection of the tranny pan i did find a few small metal pieces but not that much. im not sure if this shudder is related to my fuel pump tranny or what. i say fuel pump cause i have not been aboe to start the van on first turn of the key like i used to. the tranny does slip a little and i do have to feather it a bit to get it into thid. i also noticed theres a lot of play where the u shaft connects to the tranny. i also adjusted the tranny cable and did get a little tighter shift.......i know this is a bit much but any help will be greatly appreciated. personally i think ill be changing the tranny. last could it be the tourqe converter and does mine have a lock up. if i rebuild the trranny so they give you a new converter or is that extra also..any help will be greatly appreciated sincerely mike .

i happened to catch the part on truckstv last sunday where stacy was putting driveshafts on project crazyhorse now there was a u joint on the front end driveshaft. ive never seen such a huge cv joint !!!!!! said it rotated something like 42 degrees a permanent albiet drastic solution would be to install a slip yoke eliminator kit in the transfer case and have the driveshaft modified or a new one built with u-joints on both ends. ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

thanks for the help. thats pretty much what im hearing from other sources too. i have the one piece. im taking a look at the pinion angles today to see if shimming is needed. thanks! kevin has anyone else with this truck experienced this leak with or without the lift if you have a lift did you experience a leak skyjacker used to recommend a 3/4 spacer block be installed up to you to make it underneath the center carrier bearing bracket on the two-piece driveshafts to eliminate any driveline shudder. do you have a two-piece or one-piece driveshaft if you have the two-piece id give that a try. if its a one-piece theres not a heck of a lot that can be done short of shimming the rear axle to rotate the pinion up a bit. a permanent albiet drastic solution would be to install a slip yoke eliminator kit in the transfer case and have the driveshaft modified or a new one built with u-joints on both ends. .
