2003 QuadCab - where to get ignition power?
From : john
Q: but its only been about 20k miles. i have a dakota 97 truck with about 87k miles on it. do i need to change the plugs i dont see any symptoms but im not sure what to look for. shoot! only 20k miles why them there plugs are just as good as new. yer wastin yer money to replace em ifn you ask me.... why ive got an ol 38 chevy out leaning up against the barn and i have never replaced the plugs. the people who tell you to replace em every 30k miles are just part of the conspiracy by detroit to get yer money. some people will tell ya to replace em every once in while but they just dont unnerstand the physics behind spark plugs. im just trying to figure out what maintanance i need to do. im thinking of changing the coolant fluid because its been almost 4 years. but its been only 16k miles. heres the thing though about 8 months ago only 3000 miles ago i went to a dodge dealer where i got most of my work done who tested the fluid and said its fine he said good down to 0 degrees or something like that and i shouldnt bother changing it even though it was about 3.5 years at the time. so i didnt change it...not sure if i shouldnve taken their word for it and i forgot to ask them about its protection against heat not just cold. and im not sure when to get it replaced vs. flushed. i think its always been just replaced. i wouldnt worry none about that there coolant neither. prestone and them there boys at durmler chrysler are in cahoots i tell ya! they just wanna lighten yer wallet is all. just take a look at the radiator in my ol chevy see above why that there coolant is just as purty green as the day it rolled off the assembly line. just add straight antifreeze dont water it down none i tell ya and youll be ready to go come winter. ya see mac this car maintenance bizness is all about unnerstandin physics and chemustry... course i reckon none of yall would unnerstand about that stuff. ....well gotta go... some folks on a nuther noosegroup need some advice on nukular physics... ta ta frosty other than that based on my manual i dont seem to need any other maintanence thanks. .

this is my boys truck. it has a small v-6 with probably 130k miles drinks oil regularly but he says he keeps up with it. last week he says he is driving it and all of a sudden it starts running rough backfires a few times and that all lasts about 20 seconds or so then smooths out and runs ok. yesterday he drives to work less than a mile and parks it in their garage. after work he starts the truck it runs for about 30 seconds then turned off like someone turned the key. now it turns over but wont start. no codes. he swears there is a half a tank of fuel. im going over on sat to look at it bringing a gas can. ill check for fuel delivery and spark any other suggestions hmmmmm.... reading over this for spelling errors and i detect an ever growing suspicion of timing chain issues original chain. anybody else think this way with so little to go on does this engine have clearance to turn over with a busted chain fmb north mexico sounds like it could be a bad crank position sensor. if that is the case it should set a code in the pcm. .

on my 03 qc i have the lighter and the 12v plug. they are really the same. the lighter goes off and on with the ignition. yours should too. im looking for a 12v power source on the drivers side - one that goes off with the key. is there an easy spot to do this or will i have to run one in from the fuse box in the engine compartment .

the dk. blue wire will be in a harness with about 6 others. i will be bundled with the yellow wire i referenced. this dk. blue is your ignition 1 wire and will only have 12 volts when you have the key all the way forward with or with out the truck running it will not work in the accessory position. if you want it to work in the accessory position then you have to tap your accessory wire which is green or orange. ok so the dark blue would be a 12v source that goes off with the ignition i pulled the lower panel i assume what you mean when you say knee bolster - will this dark blue wire be with many others or by itself or only a few others thanks! on thu 28 sep 2006 193643 -0700 azwiley1 azwiley1@cox.net wrote easiest would be to tap to your ignition or starter wire. you can find this in the main harness running from the ignition switch down. drop the knee bolster find the harness and you want the dark blue for your ignition or yellow for your starter. im looking for a 12v power source on the drivers side - one that goes off with the key. is there an easy spot to do this or will i have to run one in from the fuse box in the engine compartment .
