2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Check Engine Light

From : john robertson

Q: i used to post to this group over five years ago. my postings included alignment specs that assisted in brake drift issues that were so successful they crossed the internet and wound up on sights such as tdr. my qualifications are simple master ase technician - chrysler gold certified for six years and 13 years experience in chrysler yada yada yada snipped - i cant afford that that should be covered under warranty! read your f#$*!#g manual. its not covered. sell the radio and get it fixed! brent master ase & gold certified chrysler technician brent i am a mopar man ...............i paid 52 thousand for a dodge 1 ton dually deisel and i dumped another 30 grand for my wifes car at the same dealership. i own my own business pipeline and oilfield construction i teach welding at a local college when i am not working. i have been in the business for over 26 years. i know how a tradesman is supposed to conduct himself/herself. i use my truck for holiday purposes and to pull our fifth wheel trailer....and on long trips... ill give you the story of why i am pissed with folks with your attitude. i came in to the dodge dealership and was told during an oil change that my transfer case was leaking...i said okay.....fix it!.....bill was about 500 dollars to do this. next oil change comes around and again i am told that my transfer case is leaking again...i said fix it and remind them that this is the second time....i get a bill for another 300 dollars as thay said a different part of the transfer case was leaking so no warranty on there last repair............. i had to pay.... next oil change....transfer case leaking....they said they would fix it this time as they had brass bushings other than plastic to replace some of the stuff but would be 500 dollars more as dodge doesnt realize the part as a fix so the customer has to pay for it...i said okay.....just fix it!!! never made it to the next oil change....went back to the same dealership and they said well fix it...but since we put in non dodge recomended part they cant assume warranty...so another 300 dollars and was told that it keeps leaking that i would have to put in a rebuilt or new transfer case. i was totally choked..... i left that dealership and went to get a new muffler modification at a muffler shop remove catholetic--spelling converter after this was done i was handed an invoice and then told by some 17 year old kid that was working under my truck doing the exhaust modification..... he said and i will quote words from a kid that works in a muffler shop your exaust system looks good and there are no leaks...but did you know that you have a bent drive shaft yknow ....from experience i have found when meeting a real tradesman ....the person whom says less and brags the less...is generally the better man to hire. again...what some lack in talent...they make up in bullshit. i generally conduct my hiring interviews based on this. not some glitter and gold certified bullshit. so brent....dont be crawling up on a soapbox and claiming you are the master mechanic...i spit on you and people with your attitude. fuck you... jim .

i have an 03 ram that i would like to get a more level stance. i dont want to mess with the rear cause i haul my 4 wheeler or dirtbikes all the time. its a 4x2 1500 4.7. i have had several people tell me to go with the new coil springs or coil spacers. which is better. i do not 4 wheel with this truck but i would like a more level look. i replaced my shocks with aftermarket ones last month and if i went with like a 2 coil spacer would i need 2 longer shocks i bought gabriel shocks from autozone . the ride is alot better then with aftermarket so dont put down my gabes i would think longer coil springs would stiffen the ride. which is better for my style of driving. its my daily driver. thanks john .
