2002 Dakota heater & A/c Controls don't work?
From : ed sherri
Q: what do you mean by slower and slower has this been happening over time and what happens if you set the control to full fan speed -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i have a 2002 dodge dakota quad cab and my a/c & heater fan motor does not work. i think it is the resistor but who can tell with all the electronics on a vehicle any more. what has happened is my fan kept getting slower and slower and now i have no fan at all. the mode controls work the a/c button lights comes on when you push it on. i can even hear the a/c compressor cycle on and off but again no blower motor. anyone want to please give me some input. i did check the fuses to be sure that it was good. thanks !!! -- .

the brake peddle on my 96 with vacuum pump behaves just as beknighted described for his truck i have come to consider this as a characteristic of the design. seems to me that the hard peddle at startup has been there since the truck was new. i do recall that the truck had a recall regarding a check valve. now i got to worry about a vacuum leak brakes in 96 rams were unique. some early models used a vacuum pump for boost. most models that year used hydraulic boost. if you have the vacuum pump it may have a bad check valve which lets air leak back into the system and it takes a while for the vacuum pump to build up vacuum again. it could be also be a vacuum leak elsewhere in the system. after you shut off the engine listen to the vacuum pump for air leaks. if its hydraulic boost then i dont know. but by the symptoms it sounds more like a vacuum problem. john .

sorry to disappoint you but that 1980 ford f-150 was on its original engine 4.9l 6 cyl transmission and tranfer case. the only major repair i made was replacing the rear tranny seal and the clutch replaced twice. i also had a 1990 ford bronco. 180000 miles with zero problems. luckily my 2003 dodge is also trouble free after 43000 miles on it. i agree with the snow guy if youre using up engines trannies and tranfer cases that fast look for your problem with the driver not the drive. with todays lemon laws no manufacturer is going to sell a product they may have to buy back. in my opinion ford is usually a better product than dodge. but this time the reputation of the cummins sold me. the softer ride of the 2500 vs the f250 also sold me. and by the very nature of this thread less cylinders = less moving parts is a good thing. .
