2002 Dak accessory socket question

Q: anyone know if there is an easy way to modify the 2002 dak accessory socket so it is always on at present it is only on when the key is on. i would much prefer having it the other way. on our previous 98 dak we had both an accessory socket which was switched and a cig lighter socket which was always on. this one doesnt have a cig lighter. checked the manual but it was no help. tia .

actually the acc socket in your last truck was always on and the cig lighter was switched unless you plugged your cig lighter in the wrong socket which is why they do that if someone wedges their widget in a nook where it is pressing against the cig lighter and then go inside to bed you have a total melt down. im surprised that the new one doesnt have a always on port for charging laptops cell phones etc. havent checked the new ones but pretty sure the new durangos are port on & cig switched. maybe someones been under your dash and switched the plug on wires that would be the way to fix it to your liking. i dont think the cig lighters lock down in the power port like they used to although they do fit and they also carry a 30 amp fuse which would do some serious damage. cdan anyone know if there is an easy way to modify the 2002 dak accessory socket so it is always on at present it is only on when the key is on. i would much prefer having it the other way. on our previous 98 dak we had both an accessory socket which was switched and a cig lighter socket which was always on. this one doesnt have a cig lighter. checked the manual but it was no help. tia .
