2001 Ram heater problems

From : jammer

Q: used the truck last sunday and all was fine got into it tuesday and when i fired up the heater to high speed it sounds like the dash is going to come apart. the blower motor has a vibration and the system sounds like a jet taking off. it doesnt matter if its in the defrost or any other position loudest in full speed tolerable in the two lowest speeds. also thought i picked up a bearing noise as the motor is shut down but not always there. 18000 mile on the truck. took it to the dealer for warrantee and was told it may be that a mouse got into the system and that if they found any thing other than a defective part the cost would be on me. the truck is parked outside but mice have never been a problem. would it be possible for a critter to get into an area that would cause this over a two day period i dont keep anything on the dash so nothing got in thru the vents. should i try to pull the blower myself to see if something is caught in the blower cage or just let the dealer get into it one other thing........ maybe my is mind playing tricks on me but it seems to take forever twenty-thirty seconds for the airflow to change to a different position like from defrost to floor or vent. maybe its just this freaking cold weather were having here in maine. .

i agree...make them fix it but as far as the warranty issue.. make sure the are trustworthy enough that they wont tell you they found something not covered by the warranty when it really was just so it doesnt cost them anything... not sure if they would but it is a possibility jammer wrote used the truck last sunday and all was fine got into it tuesday and when i fired up the heater to high speed it sounds like the dash is going to come apart. the blower motor has a vibration and the system sounds like a jet taking off. it doesnt matter if its in the defrost or any other position loudest in full speed tolerable in the two lowest speeds. also thought i picked up a bearing noise as the motor is shut down but not always there. 18000 mile on the truck. took it to the dealer for warrantee and was told it may be that a mouse got into the system and that if they found any thing other than a defective part the cost would be on me. the truck is parked outside but mice have never been a problem. would it be possible for a critter to get into an area that would cause this over a two day period i dont keep anything on the dash so nothing got in thru the vents. should i try to pull the blower myself to see if some

the air bags are electrically triggered and yes unplugging it will prevent it from firing. however i would not recommend anyone attempting the job themselves unless you know wtf youre doing. by all means disconnect the battery before starting. beware too absent the switch and warning light in most states such tampering could result in you being held liable for injuries sustained by =adult= passengers who then would not have the protection of the air bag in the event of a collision. bottom line i really wouldnt do it. put the kid in the back seat. merlinuxo@yahoo.com writes hi ive just bought a 04 ram 1500 quad cab and am very happy with it. i have an 8 year old daughter who goes everywhere with me and i need to disconnect the passenger side air bag to make it legal and safe for her to ride in the front with me. the quad cabs dont have the key switch in the dash supposed to stick the kids in the back seat. i think i found the plug above the glove box yellow with an orange plastic tab but am unsure about messing around with it and getting the bag to function with my noggin right in front of it. is this the right plug how do the air bags actuate thanks merlin. .
