2001 Ram bumper and hitch

From : rwatson767

Q: i have a stock 2001 1/2 ton ram. with the chrome bumper. at the middle is the flat area with 3 holes for ball hitches. i do have need for a ball to be mounted here. i had thought of installing a receiver so i could have an adequate hitch but i find that there seems to be a very adequate support for a ball with the bumper. does anyone know how strong this part of the bumper is supported thanks bob az .

tbone wrote it is not in dcs interest to wind down the whole of chrysler but they do have to make it profitable.. while true their primary reason for buying chrysler was not to take over the production lines. brings up this point why did daimler merge/buy chrysler certainly not to have an additional car line to sell in europe daimler execs repeatedly dodge the question as to why they have little or no interest in marketing chrysler vehicles in europe - let alone germany. just what manufacturing capacity does daimler/merc have in the us anyways .

but i find that there seems to be a very adequate support for a ball with the bumper. does anyone know how strong this part of the bumper is supported most bumpers say right in the hitch area most are rated at 5000 lbs with 500 lbs of tonque weight which coincides with most 2 inch hitch balls capacity without going to ss. the other 2 holes are for safety chains. you cross them under the hitch so when the trailer comes loose the hitch doesnt dig in and pole vault the trailer nothing like having your trailer pass you on the highway ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .
