2001 Durango - Service 4WD light

Q: my husband and i have a 2001 durango which does not have 4 wd but our service 4wd light on the dash is lighting up. anyone have this experience before .

sounds like wiring damage underneath the harness contains all the wiring that would be used if 4wd-equipped and if the ecm is getting an indication that the transfer case is in 4wd-lo but not seeing a decrease in output shaft speed it will light that light sorry to be the bearer of bad id suggest taking it to a transmission shop that does a lot of trucks my husband and i have a 2001 durango which does not have 4 wd but our service 4wd light on the dash is lighting up. anyone have this experience before great... i bought a 2wd d so i wouldnt have the worries of the extra 4w drive train. now this... sorry i cant help. james .
