1st Cummins Diesel

From : kay erv mutton

Q: ok guys could use your advise just sold my 03 hemi 4x4 1500 off road and bought a new 05 diesel 4x4 thunder road 2500. going to buy a montana camper install a 5th wheel hook it up and hit the road. will look for a group site for camper questions but this is my first diesel truck and would like any advise you can give me on fuel maintenance and any general info that a new diesel man should know..yes i have read the owners manual cover to cover.. thanks mutt from atlanta mutt first of all if you read the owners manual from cover to cover you are ahead of about 75% of the folks on this ng! good on you! just follow the severe maintenance schedule in your om and change the oil at 7500 miles. use a good quality diesel oil such as delo 400 or rotella. drain the water separator at each oil change and rotate the tires at each oil change. replace fuel filter every 15000 and service the diffs at 15000 also. be prepared for a pretty pricey diff service since the fluid the american axles require is high bux. if you have an automatic trans it gets serviced at 30000 miles along with the air filter if not sooner. now towing for the first 500 miles and then let er rip! lots of dodge diesel info available at the turbo diesel register website.... www.turbodieselregister.com good prices can be had for cummins fleetguard filters can be had at ..... www.genosgarage.com and a good rv group can be found at rec.outdoors.rv.travel need anymore info give us a holler! mike .

i checked my tire pressure on my trip to ny and noticed its rather hard to check your rear tire pressure and fill it with the current lay out of the air valves. i havent found anything specifically for these yet. except for rubber valve extenders--yuck! anyone know of a better set up i adjust my pressure pretty regularly as to whether im towing my 5rh wheeler or not. -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- .

no problem with the load. the damn thing is rated at more than 6tons. i just paid 24k for new 2004 4x4 quad with a moderate package including power seats split window upgraded sound tow package and a bunch of other goodies. depends a lot what you want for options. options can move the price more than 5k in a heartbeat. the 2005s shouldnt be much more. id expect to paid an extra 2k-3k for a 05 as the 04 was a left-over. i got the same thing just a few hours ago. except mine was pre-owned with 20k miles. i thought i was getting a good deal at 22k and i didnt really need the 4x4. oh well im happy with it! yea its got a hemi -- homebrewer http//85cj7.blogspot.com/ http//85cj7.webhop.net/ http//funfacts.webhop.org/ when you decide something is impossible to do try to stay out of the way of the man thats doing it. .

okay i played with it a bit in a couple of driveways and parking lots. i guess i have been spoiled by the blizzaks. the bfgs dont cut it. maybe with 700lbs of weight it might be okay. pushing in 2wd up a slight incline with a full blade after 40feet the rear started to step out tried a little angle and it was no better. had to go to 4wd remember this was about 8 of light powder. parking lots where you could use some speed it was fine. the electric shift that i was leery of was fine real quick. with the plow raised it is very very light on the ass end. so for safety sake weight has to be added next year though. still waiting for my strobe to get here. a heavy wet snow should be here mon. night into tues. that could be interesting. all in all it plows real good quick no lag at all. very nimble as far as backing and turning and all that torque is amazing now to get some traction to get that torque to the ground. roy good to hear you havent lost it yet. all that sitting around getting a fatter ass didnt hurt ya much.. bfg i got a new set of revos after all the snow had already fallen of course and they made a world of difference. the last two times ive been out for touch-up ive only had to kick in the front end for the loading docks. have i ever told you what i think of loading docks denny .

the safety aspect of the auto door locks far out weigh any inconvienance they cause. a friend of mine was car jacked at a red light in dallas one night driven to east side beaten up and left for dead fortunately he survived. if he had had auto door locks or if he had remembered to hit the locks he would not have been assaulted. duane on sat 12 feb 2005 180359 gmt edward l. dowdy eddowdy@ctsihatespamcomp.com wrote my doors lock automatically at a preset speed. this drives me nuts. mainly because i forget to unlock when i walk around to get in the rear door on the opposite side... is there a way to disable this feature ed .

william wrote my 1992 dodge dakota alternator is charging 14.5 volts all the time and has ruined two batteries all wiring seems to be ok any help would be appreciated 14.5 volts is about the right charge voltage for every vehicle ive ever owned. it should not go higher than that with higher engine rpms. how are your cables and connections sometimes you have to peel back the insulation to really see if there is corrosion working its way down. high resistance will quickly destroy a battery. maybe something pulling current even with the ignition off .
