Q: i finally left gm and ventured into dodge; which i may be leaving due to all the probs at low mileage. i bought this truck new and had numerous probs that were luckily under warranty; even though i had to call diamler to get some of the work done. now @ 78kmiles i got some of the same and new issues. i took the vehicle for all big maintence to the dealer up to 73k. but after paying them the $460 for all fluid and adjusting the trans i stopped. i always use mobile one and wix filters @ every 3k. *front seal leaking started @ 13k and again @ 32k dealer fixed this twice and now its leaking *rear main seal leaking started @ 27k dealer fixed it and started leaking again @ 65k. *rear differential maintenced the rear end and found big metal pieces in there and glitter in the gear oil. *the wonderful automatic slips i spoke to the dealer and they want me to take it back to them for adjustment. i do not want to get started on dodges automatics but coming from two gmcs 1977 180k and 1988 169k i bought new and never once had a problem with them. if i buy dodge again it will be a manual. *water pump started leaking yesterday replaced it today. whats up with this i love the way the truck rides and looks but this is almost unbelievable. i need to do all the repairs myself due to the almighty dollar. i guess i already screwed up by replacing the water pump before replacing the front seal. i can do this on weekends only can i get one done at a time i rebuild 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirt bikes and do all repairs my self on our vehicels. i have tools and am mechanically inclined. i just need to know where to get started and what to expect/look out for. in order to replace the rear main do i have to go through the oil pan on my buddies ford it was pulled and broke down for rebuild when i seen it. what needs to be done to get the front seal replaced rear differntial should i worry or what .

hmm constant main seal leaks worn diff worn trans. at only 78k..... you take this truck off roading!! too much dirty water can cause those main seal problems and once the dirt gets under the seal it will score the shaft. when you change them again use repair sleeves on the shaft! if you are off roading with it well as they say if you play you must pay. i finally left gm and ventured into dodge; which i may be leaving due to all the probs at low mileage. i bought this truck new and had numerous probs that were luckily under warranty; even though i had to call diamler to get some of the work done. now @ 78kmiles i got some of the same and new issues. i took the vehicle for all big maintence to the dealer up to 73k. but after paying them the $460 for all fluid and adjusting the trans i stopped. i always use mobile one and wix filters @ every 3k. *water pump started leaking yesterday replaced it today. whats up with this i love the way the truck rides and looks but this is almost unbelievable. i need to do all the repairs myself due to the almighty dollar. i guess i already screwed up by replacing the water pump before replacing the front seal. i can do this on weekends only can i get one done at a time i rebuild 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirt bikes and do all repairs my self on our vehicels. i have tools and am mechanically inclined. i just need to know where to get started and what to expect/look out for. in order to replace the rear main do i have to go through the oil pan on my buddies ford it was pulled and broke down for rebuild when i seen it. what needs to be done to get the front seal replaced rear differntial should i worry or what .

are you sure its the rear main those dont leak very often. its more likely coming from the rear of the intake manifold or the oil sending unit. denny i finally left gm and ventured into dodge; which i may be leaving due to all the probs at low mileage. i bought this truck new and had numerous probs that were luckily under warranty; even though i had to call diamler to get some of the work done. now @ 78kmiles i got some of the same and new issues. i took the vehicle for all big maintence to the dealer up to 73k. but after paying them the $460 for all fluid and adjusting the trans i stopped. i always use mobile one and wix filters @ every 3k. *water pump started leaking yesterday replaced it today. whats up with this i love the way the truck rides and looks but this is almost unbelievable. i need to do all the repairs myself due to the almighty dollar. i guess i already screwed up by replacing the water pump before replacing the front seal. i can do this on weekends only can i get one done at a time i rebuild 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirt bikes and do all repairs my self on our vehicels. i have tools and am mechanically inclined. i just need to know where to get started and what to expect/look out for. in order to replace the rear main do i have to go through the oil pan on my buddies ford it was pulled and broke down for rebuild when i seen it. what needs to be done to get the front seal replaced rear differntial should i worry or what .

like somethings loose in the engine compartment somewhere. ive checked for anything that might be loose but i want able to find anything. i can hear the sound its much quiter when the truck is idling too. ironically the sound is much more pronounced on the drivers side of the cab then the passengers side. furthermore i hear a bit of a knocking when the engine is under a lot of stress like going up a slight incline in 5th gear or a steep incline in 4th gear this is on highways. i also hear what sounds to be an air leak of some sort like a whistle. the air leak was around for a lot longer then the rattle but i only mention it because it might be related. so the truck has 50000 miles on it and it was serviced at 30000 the clutch went out then btw its gotten oil changes since then. i think it might be out of tune and im not sure if they replace the spark plugs at that time its possible ive still got the original sparks plugs. ive noticed that its going through oil more then it used to but theres no oil in the exhaust at least noticable or under the car. from some of the other posts ive read i think is a good possiblity that the sound is the valves rattling. ive heard that one possible reason could be the intake gasket went bad which could also cause the air leak i hear and the oil usage. i was wondering if anyone knows of any other possible causes so that im not blind sighted when i take the truck in to get it serviced. thanks jeffrey . 222 275261 7c6dntwqicltweirvn-vw@comcast.com na that takes the mystery away. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving 20040105134510.16291.00001477@mb-m22.aol.com redneck tookover hell mopar440@aol.comnet.org wrote you need to remove the crank puller the crank puller is that sort of kind of like the crank yanker bg dale maybe we should name the old machine crank yanker .
