1998 Durango fog light/high-beam issue revisited

From : chris behrens

Q: greetings! im writing because the fixes posted on dodgeram.com and alt.dodge.trucks didnt work on my 1998 durango. there are two spots for fog light relays but only #1 is filled with a relay. the second seems to be a spare not even having the connectors inside the blade slots. ive tried jumping pins 3 & 5 and the fog lights stay on regardless of headlight or foglight switch position not cool for the battery and i tried jumping terminal #30 to 87a pins 3 & 4 as suggested with no results fog lights still cut out when high-beams came on. im not an electrician so i may be slow on the uptake. heres what the relay says... pin terminal 1 85 2 86 3 30 4 87a nc 5 87 no the part number below it if itll help is 0248 980461a any help you can offer in idiot/layman terms would be greatly appreciated... this may sound really stupid but once the jumper is in place do you put the relay back in -- chris http//www.choxnpinz.com remove caps from e-mail address to reply .

cloudster@iname.com says... my fog light relay has #86 connected to the parking/running light wire. thank you for the reply. ill give it a shot... -- chris http//www.choxnpinz.com remove caps from e-mail address to reply and keep in mind that depending on your state you might find yourself on the wrong end of a state trooper. most areas its illegal to drive with the fog/aux lights on and high beams. .

*cbhvac* wrote and keep in mind that depending on your state you might find yourself on the wrong end of a state trooper. most areas its illegal to drive with the fog/aux lights on and high beams. here in az the law just says to lower to low beam for oncoming traffic. i like fogs and high beams mostly when offroading or away from city areas on a dark mountain road etc. .
