1998 Durango brake light??

Q: when i hit a frost heave or hard bump my brake and abs lights come on and dont go off till i shut till i turn the ignition off. how might i cure this problem and what do i look for thanx mike .

mike when you hit the bump that hard your rear wheels leave the ground and it give the abs controller the illusion that the rear wheels are locking up and causes the abs light to come. there is nothing you can do about this except slow down over these bumps. chryco service manager member sae when i hit a frost heave or hard bump my brake and abs lights come on and dont go off till i shut till i turn the ignition off. how might i cure this problem and what do i look for thanx mike .

thanx but why would this happen when going down a typical dirt road aswell and it does it too when i hit a pot hold mike .

also it doesnt do when i do lock them up in sandy conditions. mike .

hey mike.... mine did the same thing....2000 durango.......but what the actual cause was i was not sure. about a month later i had to have the wheel bearing replaced...and guess what....the abs/brake light is now off. what it seems to be is that the abs sensor was out of alignment because of the wheel bearing being worn and basically made it look like the sensor was malfunctioning......have your wheel bearings checked to see if this may be a problem. you will know by yourself if you notice a grinding in either wheel. hope this helps! pete when i hit a frost heave or hard bump my brake and abs lights come on and dont go off till i shut till i turn the ignition off. how might i cure this problem and what do i look for thanx mike .
