1997 Dakota 318 CI. 113,000 Oil pressure fluctuates
From : kvh
Q: the oil pressure reads 25 idling and about 45 at highway speeds. sometimes running at highway speeds it will show 25 and minutes later it will go back to 45 lbs. it does not change if you slip it in neutral and rev the engine. nothing sounds like low oil pressure no loud valves or bearing even at start up. any sugestion as what the problem may be thanks .

honestly it really depends on what other features besides nave you want. look at all those as you compare them all. pioneer has a unit avic-s1 that is really good i-way has two that are really good the gramins tomtom etc all are good. all have different features beside nav though. i could tell you buy this product from a stand point of what we sell at my store but i dont think that would do you any good. look at the units crutchfield sells to make your comparisons or feel free to drop me a line and ask questions ok whats good circuit city has a sale on the garmin c330 for $399. hows it compare to a magellan for that matter is the c530 $200 higher really worth the difference i have a c330 and have no complaints. -- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs .

hopefully it is just the oil pressure switch or the gauge in the dash that is failing. you might first try disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring harness from the oil pressure switch and see if the connection was just corroded or loose. here is a photo of the oil pressure switch http//www.rockauto.com/ref/smp/smpdetail2.htmlps284.jpg kvh wrote the oil pressure reads 25 idling and about 45 at highway speeds. sometimes running at highway speeds it will show 25 and minutes later it will go back to 45 lbs. it does not change if you slip it in neutral and rev the engine. nothing sounds like low oil pressure no loud valves or bearing even at start up. any sugestion as what the problem may be thanks .

casabragg wrote i have a 1992 dakota with what looks like a plastic fuel tank. what is the best way to patch it i have two small holes in the front right corner. heres what ive done in the past to repair a number of cracked or broken plastic items such as a snowmobile gas tank and a vacuum cleaner. hopefully you have access to a weller soldering gun. at least one of the tips that comes in the case is a flat blade which is tilted on a bit of an angle. using a tie wrap as filler material use the blade of the weller and melt in some additional plastic using the tie wrap. the heat from the gun shouldnt be nearly enough to worry about igniting anything in the tank. as i said this has worked like a charm for me in the past....good luck. kevin .
