1996 Ram 1500 Fuel Filter?
From : sddso
Q: the wifes 1996 ram 1500 141000 miles; 68000 when we purchased it; 360 v8 automatic 4x4 has begun running rough spottily and the check engine lamp illuminates every few weeks. diagnostics codes indicate a too-rich and a too-lean mixture. power output and acceleration are poor. fuel economy has declined slightly. it knocks intermittently especially in warm weather and under load. use of 91 octane cuts the knocking. the most recent air filter element change was about 10000 miles ago. our mechanic suspects fuel filter clogging. the manufacturer put the fuel filters in the tank precluding element changeout except by tank disassembly and pump replacement. can anyone recommend an aftermarket fuel tank/pump system with the filter elements on the outside or in some similar location more convenient than the factory setup thanks .
