fuel level sender has failed need to extract the fuel tank and replace the sender. anyone done this before if the tank is fairly empty support the tank with a floor jack and a piece of plywood. remove the three screws holding the filler neck into the filler door. push the filler neck into and clear of the body. remove the two tank strap retaining bolts then remove the straps. lower the tank just enough to reach up and disconnect the fuel line electrical connector and any vent hoses. lower the tank completely and remove from underneath vehicle. if the tank is pretty full and you have access to a few good friends removing the bed is another option and easier than it sounds. remove the filler neck as above. disconnect the electrical wiring to the rear lights. remove the four or six depending on bed size bed retaining nuts from underneath each take a corner and lift the bed up and off the frame. either way you now have access to the fuel pump module. remove the lock ring by either fashioning a spanner wrench or use the rubber-mallet-and-brass-drift brass is important here - you dont want sparks method to tap the ring counterclockwise. with that the fuel pump module can be removed and the sending unit replaced. .
