From : bob g
Q: i finally have decided to stop removing the seats and then packing my wives crafts into her van before she goes to a show...so i have been thinking of buying a 6 x 10 foot enclosed trailer to hitch up to the van my question is basically the trailer weight is just under 1000 pounds according to the dealer a very young clerk really.....fully loaded it still will be under 2500 pounds.. van has 3.3 engine i think my dakota has a 3.9 so i get them mixed up... i do not know if it has a towing package i kind of doubt it however.. will the van handle this trailer when loaded.... i do not live in the mountains ... thanks bob griffiths .

you should be able to pull it no problem. just remind her that she is towing a trailer. longer braking slower accelleration etc... .

on mon 14 jun 2004 213626 gmt andy redac@verizon.net wrote i sure like the quieter part andy... the jakes on semis are so loud that a lot of places dont allow them.... i think that if they clear up the problems with having one with the automatic well add it to our shopping list.. a real engine brake or jake brake designed by some guy named jacobs creates retarding power by modifing the valve timing on the fly opening the exhaust vavles just before combustion. this slows the engine because its using energy from the motion of the truck to compress the air/fuel in the cylinder but combustion is being produced to provide more power. an exhaust brake is usually mounted behind the turbo and has a large butterfly valve. when this is closed it produces backpressure in the whole system including the cylinders. different methods of getting the same result. also the exhaust brake isnt as loud as an engine brake. my exhaust brake just sounds like air rushing out of the pipes. andy youve got me there andy... whats a pacbrak and why would you have to swap engines mac .
