1995 Dodge Diesel Automatic Transmission Guru needed! Help!

From : commanderdave

Q: you can get a standard shift on american trucks as well. i got a 5 speed in my ram because modern automatics generally suck and i happen to like standard shift until i get stuck in traffic with it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i was thinking along the lines of an entry level bmw x-3 or toyota tundra next time. = a foreign vehicle + manual shifting = i cant go wrong. lol! if you think that ford or chevy are any better then you are going to be in for a big letdown. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving ive heard that if you have a dodge youre lucky to go past 80000 miles and still have a working transmission. in many cases they go bad early as it sounds like in your case. i had an old 1994 dodge ram & it had transmission problems - and im concerned my 2001 will have the same issues eventually. = ive met some real scum bags at car dealers - who assume that the customer is an idiot and their isnt a problem when there is a problem. i tell you this much...i will never buy a dodge again just because of the junk that ive had to go through with my dealer + the fact that i think theyre rather unreliable vehicles. i will keep mine until its paid off...then its gooooooooooooooooone. hopefully it wont fall apart before then! lol. i have a brand new dodge durango. almost right away i noticed that when i started it up after it was sitting for a while overnight or at the office that it would not go into 2nd gear right away. after going about 1/10 - 2/10 of a mile it would then shift into the correct gear. i called the dealer and told him about the problem and he said that this was normal. i have a hard time believing this is considered normal operation. has anybody else had this problem has anybody else brought it up to a dealer i would like to know .

tbone wrote lol please show me where in the constitution it states that you have the right to operate a motor vehicle. the 10th amendment plus the lack of an enumerated power to prohibit driving. .

bonenospam@nc.rr.com says... lol please show me where in the constitution it states that you have the right to operate a motor vehicle. its probably one that same page that says you have the right not to wear a seat belt or to piss on the salad bar. -- remove x from email address to reply. .

ok its all done. it works fine. talked to powertrax tech support they said it was the synchronizer ring; theyre sometimes very tight when theyre new and wont disengage. they will under the weight of the vehicle but not when youre just turning the wheels by hand. he said just drive it around and itll loosen up. so i drove the truck around. yahoo! beautiful. i cant really tell its back there. i backed down the boat ramp - it was raining so it was wet. i gave it some gas and you could just feel both wheel shoving the truck up that ramp. wonderful. wonderful. wonderful ron m. .

on 10 jul 2003 013732 gmt pigbruce@aol.com pig bruce wrote i have a 1973 dodge motorhome with a 413 cu in v8. the problem is that it is unreliable. it always starts easily when the engine is cold. when you drive it for 15 minutes up to an hour it just quits running. if you wait 10 minutes it will restart and run again for the same length of time. if you remove the air cleaner and look in the carb it is getting plenty of gas. if you remove a spark plug wire it is getting plenty of spark. i bought a new holley 4 barrel carb. i bought a new electric fuel pump.i bought 2 new ignition modules. i replaced the magnetic timer in the distributor. new cap and rotor new coil twice. new aluminum fuel tank and fuel lines. new ballast resistor. i moved the coil to the outside of the engine compartment. i have talked to many mechanics and they said i have done what they would have. i bought this motorhome 6 months ago so i could take my kids camping2 boys 12 and 16 years old but time is running out. please help! bruce bolton ft myers fla 239 693 2756 try another distributer module i have found brand new ones sensitive to engine heat and will die on the spot only to restart when cool hope that works for you it did twice for me .

well here is a little clue for ya there pinhead. those roads are not owned by you. nowhere in the constitution does it say that you have the right to do whatever you wish on land that you do not own. and since you do not own the roads you dont have any right to operate a motor vehicle on them. at best the roads are community property that we have elected officials to control. since we do not individually own them it becomes a privilege to use them for the operation of a motor vehicle not a right and if the privilege is abused and possibly puts others in danger it can be taken away. this should be simple enough for even you to understand. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving that is such a bogus argument it doesnt even merit a response. t bone is right a real meat head! show me where the constitution does not delineate even one iddy biddy right. it is a limit on the powers of the federal govt. then again if you had stayed awake in class you might have learned that little point! lol please show me where in the constitution it states that you have the right to operate a motor vehicle. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving yeah right. you must live in kansas another flat earther. as long as youre going to keep your head stuck in a hole at least pick a warm one... first of all driving is not a right it is a privilege oh boy heres that bullshit again it may be bullshit but it is still the truth. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

hi trey there have been a number of posts regarding the type of chains to use cable or link chains. ill just add that whatever you wind-up going with make sure you get them on as tight as you can drive a little on em and retighten them. alternately you can use chain tighteners a big rubber band with some hooks to keep the chains tight. theres nothing worse than a chain coming loose and making a mess of things! bryan on wed 03 mar 2004 061709 gmt trey treydog90spam@hotmail.com wrote i was just looking. i can get chains for about $80. not as bad as i thought it would be. so now the big question. cable or chain both are the same price. those ltx m/s tires look pretty good. i have a feeling i will not be changing the tires for a few years though. ever since i got my motorcycle i have been putting less then 50 miles a month on my truck now. so the tires will not be worn out as fast. i bet i will get another year out of the tires. trey... that sounds high.. 2 years ago the snow warning went up when we were on 80 near auburn.. we stopped at a gas station and bought a set for about $60... go with real chains cable suck... usually youre only using chains through donner... maybe 30 or 40 miles then you unchain... mac the chains range from $60-$120. i am thinking the $60 chains should do the trick for the amount of use they will get. .
