1993 Dakota - Details on towing capacity requested

Q: most hitches go around the spare....... i never had a problem. the spare for my durango is of course underneath the vehicle and i was looking at installing a tow hotch would would obviously block access to it. so would a swing arm type of holder be a good idea cant put it on the hatch as the wiper motor is there and it would increase weight to the point of not being able to get the hatch to stay open. cant install on the right side as thats the gas take fill side. dont want it inside cause the dogs are sitting there.. and the equipment also. so if the swing arm is a good way is the a online shop selling this or do i need a custom shop and what should i look for if i go with the latter .

a $1000 you got to be kidding. be resourceful and it will not even cost $100. yes if you are going ot follow the law then buy the recovery system but i find that most a/c is discharged anyway when it needs work and if you have to discharge a little of what is left then just close your eyes and do it. also remember every auto a/c system is set up to leak and will. if you have to add a can every other year or even every year that does not mean you have to get it fixed or may not even be able to fix any better that that. any place that you have a shaft with a seal around it will leak. now that brings up a question why didnt the auto industry go with a sealed compressor and operate it off a a generator that generator a higher voltage than 12 volts to keep the current down. now that would have been more of a environment fix that saying no more r-12. steve scott wrote with any ac car home or commercial when its opened to the atmosphere you need to evacuate the system. meaning you need to remove all of the air and moisture from the system. i have no clue what the cost of the equipment for evacuating and measuring a charge is for a vehicle but youre going to spend a grand or more for the equipment for similar residential equipment. thats assuming you have nothing to recover. on sat 13 aug 2005 081318 -0400 surfersabo spamsabo@cox.net wrote the thing is i would really like to learn and what a golden opportunity now that i have a broken system i actually have two to get some experience. i am not afraid to spend some money on equipment i just dont know what to buy or how to use it. if what you are saying is that it is too complicated or involved for the do-it-yourselfer i respect that i guess. does anybody know a way that a guy like me could learn more .

dlc dlc@dlc.net wrote dlc writes if i unplug the sensor and turn the ignition on the gauge reads low all the way to the left. if i short the lead still unpluggedto ground the gauge reads high all the way to the right. so i am confident i am dealing with the coolant sensor. it is just behind the alternator. the service manual suggests the correct resistance should be between 10k and 13k at 70 degrees. the sensor reads 2k. i havent checked the sensor with the engine warm. i know this seems backward and the gauge should read high but 2k is not a normal reading so i thought i would change out the sensor. by the way the temperature gauge has read low since i bought the vehicle last year. the only reason i am concerned is that i am still having stalling and backfiring problems and have replaced the catalytic converter muffler distributer cap and rotor spark plugs ignition wires o2 sensor fuel filter air filter and egr valve. i have also checked for vacuum leaks. so i am trying to fix anything that is possibly related. the backfiring occurs when i am driving at a constant highway speed and encounter a hill. as i gently apply more throttle to maintain the speed the engine will briefly stall and backfire through the exhaust. if i let off the gas for a few seconds the engine will begin to run smoothly and everything seems normal. on a 400 mile trip this may happen 2-3 times. any ideas why are you screwing around with the sender for the dash gauge in order to solve a driveability problem as for ideas; you might want to check the distributor for worn out bushings. .
