Q: its the belt stretched or worn out our 2000 durnago started making a terrible squealing noise whenever the truck is initially started up and the a/c turned on. if the a/c is turned off the noise goes away after a few moments. if the truck has warmed up a few minutes the noise does not happen at all when a/c is turned on. im 95% sure it has to do with the belt. however would it be belt tension or indication the belt is getting old would it be best to replace the belt now or use belt dressing for a while will this affect the alternator or a/c fuction at all mr. could be the belt tensioner. ive had new ones squeal right out of the box. ken .

i know..tie rod or turbo causes that... p if the belt is old try that.. a new belt never hurt ya...and if it stilll does it.. take it to a garage i would hardly take such a thing to a garage but thats me. someone else may want to. if i put lubricant on the shaft of the bolt that the tensioner rides on it quits squealing for awhile. brand new part brand new belt thats just the way it is. ken its the belt stretched or worn out not necessarily. my truck has done it with a new belt. our 2000 durnago started making a terrible squealing noise whenever the truck is initially started up and the a/c turned on. if the a/c is turned off the noise goes away after a few moments. if the truck has warmed up a few minutes the noise does not happen at all when a/c is turned on. im 95% sure it has to do with the belt. however would it be belt tension or indication the belt is getting old would it be best to replace the belt now or use belt dressing for a while will this affect the alternator or a/c fuction at all mr. could be the belt tensioner. ive had new ones squeal right out of the box. ken .

napalmheart wrote im contemplating converting a dak to a diesel. pull the gas engine and replace it with one of those mercedes 2.5 liter diesels they put into the sprinter van. i figure itll give me as good or better performance particularly towing capacity than the old 3.9 liter v6 but with mileage in the upper 20s. anyone try this if so how much did it cost any thoughts on the subject im tired of waiting for dc to come out with a dak diesel. has anyone converted a dakota to a diesel system i guess ill be the first = supposedly they build built dak diesels in brazil. got a 2.5l detrioit diesel with 221 ft/lb torque. this would make it comparable to my old 3.9l gas dak. im in the market for around 300 ft/lb so the brazilian dak wont cut it. one of the mercedes motors will likely do the trick for me. -gb have you looked at the italin made engine used in the liberty. it has the numbers your looking for. -- ---------------------------- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs. .

found what i needed. a company by the name of draw-tite makes whats called a t-one connector. it plugged into both tail lights and has a wire teeing off with a 4 prong flat plug. then the original plugs from the tail lights plugs into it. took all of 15 minutes to install. i have a 2005 dodge dakota that is not prewired for towing. my 1997 dakota had a disconnect where i was able install a t wiring harness without cutting into the wires. i cant find any connectors between the tail lights on the 2005. can anyone give me advice on how to wire this truck for pulling a small trailer with a 4 pin flat plug. .
