1975/76 dodge Motorhome tranny question, I have the pan

Q: .. re 1975/76 dodge motorhome tranny question from friery@hotmail.com jamie=a0friery ok first thanx to everyone who responded.......... second.........the tranny made no noise at all and shifted freely into all gears but nothing happened no movement no noise no smoke nothing..... i did drop the pan and the fluid looks brand new.......not soupy or smelly..........and has a brand new cork gasket on it......... now the transmission wont shift at all............ oh yea...before i dropped the pan and it would shift ok i couldnt push the mh unless it was in neurtral........ now what the pan is off and here she sits........ anyone have a manual for this model =3d=3d =3d=3d jamie heres what i get out of the info thats been posted so far.......... 1..... the rv would not move since day 1 of you buying it 2.... putting it in gear....you could feel it engage but the rv would not move. 3..... the rv could not be manually moved forward or back unless the tranny was in neutral. 4.... the fluid looks like new. 5..... you have the pan off....and expect the tranny to shift. heres what i get from all that...... 1..... someone has been messn with the tranny before you bought the rv. 2..... the tranny engages when its full of fluid but the rv does not move.....unless the gear selector is in neutrall at which time you can manually push the rv forward and back. 3..... you dont know much about tranny operations. suggestion..... with the pan off.....check that all the linkage is moving around while the gear selector is being manipulated. pay real close attention to a long rod that is running forward to back...that connects to the linkage coming through the case. what i suspect as a possibility...... someone has tampered with the tranny...for whatever reason... and now.... the parking pawl return spring is not doing its job for whatever reason.......and when you put the tranny in neutral and rock it a little...it releases the parking pawl. this is jest a knee-jerk guess based on the information you have posted. if checking the linkage out doesnt provide some results..... call a tranny shop. marsh monster tranny tech - .
