Q: i wouldnt do it. as the previous poster mentioned the two *must be* identically sized electrically - not necessarily physically but likely would be if the electrical parameters are identically matched. lead-acid batteries most batteries for that matter do not play well together when bridged together in parallel + to + and - to - together they will also present an unexpected load to your alternator and voltage regulator. i profess no expertise but i am an industrial electrician manufacturing automation and i know just enough about dc power to not tamper with the design of a vehicle electrical system. if you really want two batteries you need to provide some high current i.e. 400-amp steering diodes for isolation so the batteries can each service the working load and each receive a charge more or less separately without being able to see each other electrically and cross-charging or cross-discharging each other. then of course theres that nagging little problem with the 0.6v average forward voltage drop across each diode. your 12v electrical system is all of a sudden an 11.4v electrical system. not in modern systems the voltage regulator has a sense lead that is connected directly to the battery terminal electrically if you install diode isolators the regulator will raise the alternator output intil it senses normal voltage across the batteries .

hello. quick question on a 1989 dodge ram 1/2 ton with a 318 is there a rubber gasket that goes around the thermostat i had one picked up for me and it doesnt come with one. i would like to find out before i rip the truck apart. thanks in advance. unless mopar changed things it would be a paper gasket. in a pinch you can cut one out of a wheaties cereal box -- eat the wheaties first. ^ i like to spread a thin layer of permatex aviation form-a-gasket onto the gasket -- just to be certain it wont seep. -bryan ok i have the paper gasket that goes between the engine and the thermostat cover but is there like a rubber o ring that goes around the thermostat itself to prevent coolant from passing around the actual thermostat itself no the amount of fluid that could possibly leak around the thermostat would have no measurable effect. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

stephen harding harding@cs.umass.edu wrote in from experience i disagree that fwd is better. ive driven both for years and i prefer rwd. i have to agree. with rwd if ya know what you are doing you can move the rear of the car with just a tap of the gas. you can avoid a accident or at least lessen it. with fwd you are screwed. i dont deny that fwd is decent in the snow. my wife drives a eldo but it is a damn heavy fwd. also it has blizzaks on it which improved it by about 75% over the factory tires. but get into a slide and you are pretty much along for the ride not so with rwd. but now you are assuming that everyone has the skills to put a car into a controlled skid under a panic situation and that is a complete load of bull. most people in that situation just hammer the brake and in that case front or rear wheel drive makes no difference. yes a skilled driver can make a rwd move in the snow but an inexperienced driver can easily do it with a fwd. as for the tire sizes and the t/a my wifes intrepid rt has the same size tires as my 80 t/a and it has no problems in the snow with them. so we agree it all comes down to the driver. it always comes down to the driver so yes we agree on that. but that doesnt change the fact that a fwd is easier to control and operate in the snow. like i said earlier it is good for one to know ones limitations. one other thought and this is a jump ball. do you think that those off us that feel that rwd is the way to go that it might be because we learned to drive and became experienced on rwd. while those who favor the fwd have limited or no experience driving a rwd. yup it is a age thingg roy if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

snip also if you do not like the relay idea check out http//www.hellroaring.com/ they have a solid-state solution worth looking at for two or even three batteries. they use power mosfet devices to attain the low rdson values and associated low voltage-drop. bryan .

without any kind of isolators. why do you need to do it different in a little truck not arguing just wondering. denny you dont some people are just being overly dramatic and making it more complicated than it is. high end diesel pusher motorhomes have house batteries connected together in parrallel and yes they are isolated from the starting batteries which are also hooked together in parallel. lots of drag race cars run 2 batteries without an isolator some guys run alternators with them some dont if youre just using the batteries to start and run the vehicle just hook up 2 new batteries same brand same rating in parrallel and forget it politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

how much is a fuel pump for this vehicle http//www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfmaction=getlocator&siteid=213794&chapter=dp3039&appsectionid=6&groupid=10025&subgroupid=60663&make=8&model=ram%201500%20pickup&year=1995&catalogid=1 $218 plus shipping. how about the expense to have it put in...do you have to drop the fuel tank probably about 1.5 hours so depending on your local shop rates between $100 and $150. you either drop the tank or take the bed off. .

fwpp witnessprotectionprogram@imnottelling.com wrote in snipped same here. the advantage is clearly rwd because the drive wheels are different from the steering wheels. joe black 03 dakota 5.9 r/t cc calypso green 93 mustang 5.0 lx hatch with a few goodies actually that is what gives the rwd the disadvantage. with fwd the front wheels with the majority of weight pull in the direction you steer. if those front wheels are slipping the only place the car is going is out of control. no steering along with no drive traction = out of control. complete bull just because the front wheels are slipping doesnt mean that they have lost all traction just some of it. care to explain what partial traction is roy .

ok.. some questions for you.. drive off road at all 4x4 way to go drive with lots of snow 4x4 way to go want good mileage while towing cummins 4x2 way to go want to annoy neighbors while warming truck go with the cummins myself im in search of a 4x4 2500 cummins.. need auto tho.. wife refuses to drive stick.. my first post to this group...hoping for some helpful advice. am presently pulling a 8000 lb citation fifth wheel with a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.2 engine...got about 9 mpg last summer get about 17 without the trailer. am looking at the following 2 vehicles; a demo 2003 6 speed 2500 ram with cummings manual shift 2 wheel drive for about $36000 canadian or leasing a new 2004 1500 ram automatic 5.7 hemi automatic 4x4 . am looking for any kind of advice or feedback. i may put 12000 kms annually on the truck its used to go back and forth to work approx 2 miles some casual driving and then family travel. for most outings we have a jetta tdi wagon. what advantages/disadvantages re the cummings vs hemi. service wear and tear on both. basically anything you can think of. thanks...peter ps. just started 5th wheeling last summer and went on a 4000 km trip. my preference would be similar a 3 week trip at roughly the same distance with a couple more short hops throughout the summer. .

an appropriate response for someone who goes by redneck. an appropriate response from someone who thinks its cummings oranges are sweeter and juicier but take more time to peel. apples are chewier not as messy to eat and no prep time to eat them. vitamin benefits are about the same a little more vitamin c in oranges. congrats youve just described the two trucks you are looking at but then redneck told ya that. im asking for a little advice so please keep your negativety out of here. perhaps if you want something keeping your own negativity to a minimum is also wise. as to your trucks the cummins 6spd will suck to drive only two miles to work. youll be shifting most of the time. but it can be done and the truck will be fun to drive. it will also get decent mpg with or without a trailer hooked to its butt. the hemi will do the job without a doubt and wont be a pita to shift over a short distance. its mpg will be lower with the trailer than the cummins but will still do the job quite well. have you talked to anyone in your area that uses either truck to pull a trailer is there an echo in here max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

interesting topic. but how far up others asses do we feel like we need to be if johnny and robbie want to raise a child who are we to judge im sure there are plenty out there who feel that anybody so closed minded shouldnt reproduce as well. all in all who cares what i or you think should it not be up to whomever if they want to raise a child its not like its automatically harmful because of having gay parents. its because of reactions from closed minded people. so the closed minded people should immediately stop reproducing. thank god im close minded because a queer is a queer any way you try to look at it. it justs not right. maybe all the fudge packers should have their own island in the pacific somewhere. denny .
