Q: appalacian sp mountains with a moderate load in it and never had a complaint. i will agree with you though about the 4.7 especially in a ram i found it to simply be a dog. . 222 339231 46f485c4$0$32486$4c368faf@roadrunner.com i get 20+ mpg highway with my 07 dakota quad cab slt v8 4.7l and 16-18 mpg city. i dont do a lot of highway but have noticed 21.1 mpg the last time i drove about 15 miles highway time at 65-70 mph with cruise on. i run amsoil 5w30 synthetic and qt regular gas and i dont drive like a grand pa. when i test drove the same truck with a v6 in it i felt like the parking brake was on. there is not enough power in the v6 and almost not enough in the 4.7l v8 but its adequate - nothing more. my other dakota in a 98 with a 5.2l in it. that truck had the power when i needed it. the new one is not as strong. it drives a whole lot more comfortable and sits higher. i like both versions. i see they changed the body style again on the 08 dakota too. that stinks. i am interested in hearing other owners fuel mileagemy folks just purchased one and so far there mpg looks badlike 13-14 highway! .

ok just got off the phone with dynatrac and per the feedback they receive the increase in mpg is 2-4 depending of course on the driver. that being said if you see an average of 3 mpg increase with a 34 gal tank you will get an additional 102 miles. and if you are paying $2.95 for premium as i am then you will save about $29.00 per fill up. at $1900 per kit it will take about 66 full tanks to pay for itself. for me thats about 1.5 years. if i can eek out 4 then its even better. so had i known about these when i replaced my bearings i would have gone the extra small amount and installed these. they also claim increased steering response and less vibration due to the decrease in rotational mass. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels its surely not cheap. was curious if anyone had any real world mileage increase numbers before i give them a call. i plan on keeping my 01 2500 qc 4x4 for many many years to come and might consider this if the increase is sufficient. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels has anyone here ever had any experience with these mileage increase overall performance http//www.dynatrac.com/productsfreespindodge.html no experience but it would take a long time to break even on what it costs. al .

the older 3.9v6 does have plenty of power. i never meant to imply it did not. i also owned one of them and am sorry i sold it. i was referring to the new 3.7l v6 - it drives like the brakes are on. i test drove one because i couldnt find one like what i bought. that was hard to say. i was looking for a v8 with a certain list of options. mine has that list except for the automatic rear view mirror. no the 3.9l v6 has nearly as much power as my 4.7l. the new 3.7l v6 has comparable power to the 4 cyl. they put in some of the low end dakotas. new design - lack of power. old design - plenty of power. on sep 21 802 pm abby.normal back....@nospam.net wrote i get 20+ mpg highway with my 07 dakota quad cab slt v8 4.7l and 16-18 mpg city. i dont do a lot of highway but have noticed 21.1 mpg the last time i drove about 15 miles highway time at 65-70 mph with cruise on. i run amsoil 5w30 synthetic and qt regular gas and i dont drive like a grand pa. when i test drove the same truck with a v6 in it i felt like the parking brake was on. there is not enough power in the v6 and almost not enough in the 4.7l v8 but its adequate - nothing more. my other dakota in a 98 with a 5.2l in it. that truck had the power when i needed it. the new one is not as strong. it drives a whole lot more comfortable and sits higher. i like both versions. i see they changed the body style again on the 08 dakota too. that stinks. i am interested in hearing other owners fuel mileagemy folks just purchased one and so far there mpg looks badlike 13-14 highway!- hide quoted text - - show quoted text - i would disagree with you about the 3.9 not having enough power. my 95 w/a 5 speen manual had pleanty of muscle behind it for what the truck was designed/used for. made many of trips with it through the appalacian sp mountains with a moderate load in it and never had a complaint. i will agree with you though about the 4.7 especially in a ram i found it to simply be a dog. .

thanks for the info and tip. all should go smoothly. im going to replce my front disc brakes on my 03 dakota. iv worked on mostly gm brakes they use a allen head driver to remove the pins. are these the same and what size these brakes are very similar but the slide pins have regular 6-point bolt heads... a socket set is all you need. pay particular attention to the orientation of the anti-rattle clips. they can be tricky to put back if you mix up the top/bottom clips. .
