Q: if the pavement is dry dont even bother putting on the cables or chains. being from canada you really dont understand how california works with this chain deal. it isnt up to the motorist to decide whether to chain up the chp decides. there are bunches of guys waiting along the road in designated chain up areas to chain up vehicles for around $20 for a regular car/truck. then they are waiting to help unchain for a nominal fee on the other side of the pass in a designated unchain area a snow storm in one of the mountain passes in kalifornia is free enterprise at its best!!!!!!!!!!!!! politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .
