04 Dakota Mileage Question

From : john

Q: that seems just a bit low but it really depends on your foot. is this at 55mph or 75mph it will improve as the engine breaks in. for me that was around 20000 before mpg leveled off. i would think 14-15 highway at 65mph would be average. john wrote hello all im new to this group and to the dodge brand as well. oct 1st picked up my brand new 04 dakota ext. cab 2wd 4.7 5spd. in the past month and a half ive clocked about 2400k miles so far. my question is what kind of gas mileage can i expect from this truck right now im averaging about 10 miles per gallon 90 percent of my driving is all highway. i know its not really broken in yet...but can i expect to get better gas mileage in the future im currently using 87 octane mobil & hess unleaded. this grade of gas is recommended in the truck manual. also ive been breaking her in real easy...... any comments or suggests for better fuel mileage would be appreciated. thanks .

but you can never change your place of birth which makes that rule outdated in todays world and rather ignorant. i believe that rule is there to prevent this country from having a leader with a conflict of interest. what would happen if there were ever a conflict between the us and the homeland of a foreign born us president effective leadership would be unlikely in that position doubts warranted or not. at least this argument makes some sense but i have a question for you to think about. if the person truly loved the country of their birth to even the point where a conflict of interest could occur why would they give up their citizenship with that country the only thing citizenship gives you that a green card doesnt is the right to vote. if you think that it is easy for them to do put yourself in their place and could you give up your citizenship with this country for that of another even if you planned on living there for a long period of time. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

at least this argument makes some sense its the same argument others noted only you finally get it... maybe.... but i have a question for you to think about. if the person truly loved the country of their birth to even the point where a conflict of interest could occur why would they give up their citizenship with that country answer many countries allow dual citizenship. just because they become a citizen here doesnt mean they are disowned by the country they were born in. if you think that it is easy for them to do put yourself in their place and could you give up your citizenship with this country for that of another even if you planned on living there for a long period of time. the simple fact that they come here means theat they are looking for opportunity thus its not a matter of loyalty but a matter of economics. thus since its not about loyalty its just one more reason to keep the rquirements in place. have you answered those questions yet hint a single one line repeated after each question isnt an answer. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .

there is a worse sound . . .the fool that not only gets the stethoscope too close but his fingers as well . . . budd no not the voice of experience . . i learned from anothers mistake on thu 18 nov 2004 164315 gmt tbone t-bonenospam@nc.rr.com wrote budd cochran wrote do you have power steering bet youre hearing the noise of the fluid flowing thru the hoses. actually whooshing was the wrong word to describe it. its more of a whiffing sound. it doesnt sound to me like fluid in the hoses although i wont rule out that is what it is. it really sounds like when you wash a window with windex and at the very end of cleaning the window it makes that funny skrinch skrinch sound. only it makes that sound whenever i turn the steering wheel. maybe i need to top off the power steering fluid it sounds like something in the power steering hydraulics but it could be one of many things. the first thing to do is to check the power steering fluid level. if it is low then you will hear various noises. if the fluid level looks ok you will need to better pinpoint the source of the sound. it can really be anything from a worn pump to a bad valve in the steering gear to a loose return hose clamp or blown o-ring. the easiest way that i find to do that is with either a mechanics stethoscope or a simple hose. the fact that it seems to happen only under load turning the wheel and does it in both directions would have me looking at the pump first but it could be the gear just the same. have a friend turn the wheel back and forth while you listen to each of the components with the hose to find out which component is causing the problem and be careful. do not jam the hose into your ear as it is not worth damaging your eardrum to find it and there are moving parts in there that you can snag with the hose if you are not careful. there is no sound on earth to match the sound of accidentally letting the mechanics stethoscope touch that little cooling fan just behind the alternator pulley. so many garys ..so.. clyde .

lol gee i try to be nice and you still act like an asshole. oh well i tried. i buy the equipment so that i can see what is wrong and work from there. i doubt you would buy the drb2 and a smoke machine just to find the leak on your own vehicle. both are several thousand bucks apiece. and you would be correct. my code reader could possibly be considered a lower line diag tool as it can read and display data from the sensors and computer and send it to my pc as well as read and clear codes. as for the smoke machine i could probably fabricate that but i know thaty it would be no where near as effective as the several thusanddollar one. but as i know you get what you pay for. exactly what equipment do you think that they use to find these leaks see above. both are required tools. what is the drb2 tool doing during the search for the leak and btw a small leak will not set that code. you would be surprized how small of a leak can be detected. ive seen a whisp of smoke come out of a line that looked perfectly good to the eye. as i have come to learn. i did not realize that the vapor recovery system had become that sophisticated. i guess that you are not as smart as i thought never mind. ya know mr. bone a few of your posts you act like a man and although i dont always agree with your opinion i respect it. most of the time tho you just sound like a whiney little baby bitch that likes to read his own posts and sit there and smile about how witty they are. in all honesty denny if you want me to take these comments seriously then you really need to be a little less one sided with them. i will be the first to admit that i am far from perfect and start my share of crap but i am far from alone in doing that and yet i seem to be the only one that gets any shit for it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

i got 11mpg on mine until about 8k miles then it jumped up to 16 but i had a qc 4x4. dc has changed the hp and tq curves on the engine since then too. my engine got better mpg when i had it loaded down with about 400-600lbs when i was moving some family members. these engines like to work a bit. they moved the power band from the lower-mid end rpm to the high end of the mpg. so that may be affecting it. im not sure if all of the 04s are ho versions of the engine or not. if so they have a more agressive configuration which chews up a little more fuel but nothing drastic. when youre truck is broken completely in expect around 18mpg +or- going downhill with a tailwind. on thu 18 nov 2004 224720 gmt john jquell1@nycap.rr.com wrote that was traveling at 65 miles per hour religiously......with a light foot. thanks john that seems just a bit low but it really depends on your foot. is this at 55mph or 75mph it will improve as the engine breaks in. for me that was around 20000 before mpg leveled off. i would think 14-15 highway at 65mph would be average. john wrote hello all im new to this group and to the dodge brand as well. oct 1st picked up my brand new 04 dakota ext. cab 2wd 4.7 5spd. in the past month and a half ive clocked about 2400k miles so far. my question is what kind of gas mileage can i expect from this truck right now im averaging about 10 miles per gallon 90 percent of my driving is all highway. i know its not really broken in yet...but can i expect to get better gas mileage in the future im currently using 87 octane mobil & hess unleaded. this grade of gas is recommended in the truck manual. also ive been breaking her in real easy...... any comments or suggests for better fuel mileage would be appreciated. thanks .
