feels like the rev limiter has been hit and the fuel cut-off is in effect but the engine is only around 3000-3500 rpm. has anyone seen this problem or have any suggestions im leaning away from it being a fuel pump problem as it happened however less often or i noticed it less with the old fuel pump and still happens with the new one. unfortunatley im not getting any check engine light messages to look for an error code. any help is very much appreciated!!! thanks!!! adam . 222 268136 msjbb.15$vq1.10@twister.southeast.rr.com i bought a new 03 ram quad with the 4.7l engine. it is my first full size truck and i am loving it. at first the gas mileage was wicked bad but i am getting a few miles on it now and it is getting better and better. let me give you a little warning. if your truck is equipped with the 17in goodyear wranglers sr-as 265-70-17 treat them well. i recently had to replace one due to a highway puncture. the grand total was a staggering 185.00. ouch!! anyway hope you love your truck as much as i love mine. check out this website www.dodgetruckworld.com. happy ramming. i recently purchased a 03 ram quad cab4x44.7.so farwe love it.i work at a jeep dealer as a tech.20 yr.vet.the truck was a enterprise turn inseems perfect.how is the 4.7 holding upive seen them in grand cherokees since 99 modelsnever seen one broke!well pleased with performance and fuel milage in the ram.any feedback well appreciated.thanks .

david l. price wrote the service manual for my 02 dak says the 4.7 has a timing chain not a belt. thats good to hear. when the 4.7l v8 came out i sure remember alot of talk about it having a belt. guess that was just early speculation!! .

budd cochran wrote thats one that id like to see the torque curve for. it just about has to be as flat as a kansas pool table. must see - http//www.bath.ac.uk/ccsshb/12cyl/ i think max could climb a connecting rod of this one. and fit an extension ladder inside a cylinder. in the pic of the crank for the 10-cylinder version note the steps by each crank throw that lead down into the crankcase .

chauncey gardener wrote but if you have a chain and it breaks you are in big trouble yes true but rubber belts break more often than a chain. ever since belts became widespread it seems common for my local shop to almost always be replacing or rebuilding one motor after another from a broken belt. usually the break occurred well within the manufactures stated replacement interval. if i buy a car with a belt ill buy a non-interference design. .
