Q: anyone have any experience with warming up the cummins motor on cold mornings. will it warm up if left at idle if so how long does it take would like to be able to start it and let it warm up enough to run the defroster would make scraping ice off the glass a lot easier. thoughts suggestions cpl366 .

ooooooo ft. mac eh you oil patch up there im an apprentice hd mech. i work at a diesel engine rebuild shop in calgary. we do lots of oil patch engines twin-sets gen-sets trucks equipment etc. but anyhow ive got 2 different styles one on each of my trucks. one is inline on the heater hose between the water pump and firewall the other style is much more compact and is inline on the lower rad hose both are 1500w. i honestly cant remember where i got em from but id suggest check out your local dealerships finning is up there i think waterous maybe or any truck dealership parts counter should have em or can get em. i have been reading along. my father in law also uses one of these on his backhoe. where did you buy yours and which lines did you install it on. i live in fort mcmurray alberta where we see -40 and i would love to save my poor engine from the extreme cold. get yourself a circulating antifreeze heater. theyre the best ive used for cold winters here in alberta. you leave your heater vents open to the windshield and theres just enough heat to prevent frost buildup and of course the block and head stays warm. mines rated at 1500 watts. thanks for the suggestions. had considered a windshield cover. never heard of the rainx idea. the interior heater idea may be what im looking for......get some heat in there to get the windows and cab warmed up w/o having to let it idle for an hour. im aware that they make covers for the grill but where would i find them is that something that the local dodge dealer carries cpl366 on mon 10 nov 2003 013933 -0600 yonzie dyonz@hotmail.com wrote hc6uqv0c4019gloeqkieorbamkhtmc4rb8@4ax.com cpl366 cpl366@hotmail.com wrote anyone have any experience with warming up the cummins motor on cold mornings. will it warm up if left at idle if so how long does it take would like to be able to start it and let it warm up enough to run the defroster would make scraping ice off the glass a lot easier. thoughts suggestions cpl366 warms up faster if you are driving it dont hurt to let it idle for four or five minutes to warm it up first. why not get an interior car warmer .

install exhaust brake to load up engine. diesels do not warm up very much at idle best to start driving as soon as oil pressure is up and it will warm up also. plug in your block heater. rain-x will prevent ice from sticking to your windshield just recoat every couple of weeks. i worked two years up in colorado and even at -20 the ice never stuck also put it on all other windows and out side mirrors. joe on mon 10 nov 2003 050032 gmt cpl366 cpl366@hotmail.com wrote anyone have any experience with warming up the cummins motor on cold mornings. will it warm up if left at idle if so how long does it take would like to be able to start it and let it warm up enough to run the defroster would make scraping ice off the glass a lot easier. thoughts suggestions cpl366 .

i would put the one on the lower rad hose. i had an old ford with one on the heater hose remember now that i had to have the interior heater turned on to defrost for it to circulate noway@forgetit.com wrote ooooooo ft. mac eh you oil patch up there im an apprentice hd mech. i work at a diesel engine rebuild shop in calgary. we do lots of oil patch engines twin-sets gen-sets trucks equipment etc. but anyhow ive got 2 different styles one on each of my trucks. one is inline on the heater hose between the water pump and firewall the other style is much more compact and is inline on the lower rad hose both are 1500w. i honestly cant remember where i got em from but id suggest check out your local dealerships finning is up there i think waterous maybe or any truck dealership parts counter should have em or can get em. i have been reading along. my father in law also uses one of these on his backhoe. where did you buy yours and which lines did you install it on. i live in fort mcmurray alberta where we see -40 and i would love to save my poor engine from the extreme cold. get yourself a circulating antifreeze heater. theyre the best ive used for cold winters here in alberta. you leave your heater vents open to the windshield and theres just enough heat to prevent frost buildup and of course the block and head stays warm. mines rated at 1500 watts. thanks for the suggestions. had considered a windshield cover. never heard of the rainx idea. the interior heater idea may be what im looking for......get some heat in there to get the windows and cab warmed up w/o having to let it idle for an hour. im aware that they make covers for the grill but where would i find them is that something that the local dodge dealer carries cpl366 on mon 10 nov 2003 013933 -0600 yonzie dyonz@hotmail.com wrote hc6uqv0c4019gloeqkieorbamkhtmc4rb8@4ax.com cpl366 cpl366@hotmail.com wrote anyone have any experience with warming up the cummins motor on cold mornings. will it warm up if left at idle if so how long does it take would like to be able to start it and let it warm up enough to run the defroster would make scraping ice off the glass a lot easier. thoughts suggestions cpl366 warms up faster if you are driving it dont hurt to let it idle for four or five minutes to warm it up first. why not get an interior car warmer .

you may want to consider something i saw a while back for diesels on trucks. basically its a very small water heater that you install that warms and circulates the coolant in the block so as soon as you start it up...bam...warm airflow. it was a complete kit that looked very cool. ive decided on getting one myself when i get a diesel. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. 2810-5d yonkers road raleigh nc 27604 loballeng@mindspring.com anyone have any experience with warming up the cummins motor on cold mornings. will it warm up if left at idle if so how long does it take would like to be able to start it and let it warm up enough to run the defroster would make scraping ice off the glass a lot easier. thoughts suggestions cpl366 .
