why dont you start over by making sure that number one cylinder is at tdc then check the distributor rotor position and rewire from there because the rotor could be pointing to #6 position on a 4 cycle v8. rotation is clockwise. #1 tower is front and just slightly to drivers side of centerline. if you pull the distributor set the #1 cylinder on firing tdc both valves closed the slot in the oil pump intermediate shaft should line up with the front bolt on the intake manifold. line the rotor up to face forward on this slot it only goes in two ways correctly or 180 degrees out and the distributor body should have the advance canister facing somewhere between perpendicular to the centerline of the engine and 45 degrees forward. generally the cap might have a #1 cast in that tower also the clips usually fall about on centerline of the engine. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

max we are over there under bullshit reasoning. i would think that most have realized the much discussed wmd dont friggin exist. i agree and said as much prior to the festivities. at this time last year i was saying that north korea had more proven wmd than iraq and was far more of a wild card. we are there for one thing oil. human rights is a smoke screen imo there are a bunch of 3rd world countries that are killing thousands a month yet we arent going there. why because it isnt popular and that fruit loop on pa ave hasnt dreamed up scheme to get us involved. bingo. youll get no dissenting view here. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

you have the firing order correct but distributors on small blocks turn clockwise ccw on b/rb/hemi engines. your right! my last big dodge ran a 440 and im used to timing/wiring it. ok gotta diagram by chance to save me some time as to the #1 plug wire position on the cap i know you can wire it off most any terminal and rotate to match but id rather just do it right. thanks -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com per my 68 plymouth service manual with the engine at tdc #1 firing the rotor should be pointing toward the forward-most bolt on the left side on the intake manifold. bryan .

if its from mp it has a copyright date and later manuals have edition numbers. mine does not. no date no edition number only a part#. ill paraphrase the 340-360 manifolds are recommended for the 273-318 heads even though the ports are larger than the ports in the head. this is exactly what is printed in my book the next sentence is if this is done the 340-360 intake manifold gasket must be used. iow you think it recommends the 340-360 manifold when all it does is say it can be used if you want a used piece and not a new one. actually it says exactly what i wrote. you may interpret it any way you see fit. if you wish to dispute this recommendation take it up with mopar. i dont dispute the statements they made... i refute your interpretation and the effort made to discredit not only myself but red as well. next time read what the book says and compare it to what a couple of fairly if not very experienced mopar nuts have to say about it. looks damn near the same if ya ask me. not trying to discredit anyone just pointing out what the mopar bible says on the subject as far as what red says i dont know ive used a 340 manifold on a 318 and had no performance problems whatsoever. if you wish to dispute this consult reality. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

hi folks ive been dealing with this for a while and im very frustrated. 1992 dodge w150 318 magnum auto trans most of the time when i turn the key nothing happens its just dead. after running the gear selector all the way up and down anywhere from one to ten times and back to park it will start. sometimes i have to do this a few times before it will start. about a week ago the problem went away completely starting every time on the first try. yesterday it came back with a vengeance but i havent been stranded yet. i had the neutral safety switch replaced the ignition cylinder key slot and the starter. each fix seemed to help but only for a couple days maybe placebo effect. im thinking now that maybe the shift linkage is out of adjustment but the manual only states that the truck may start in gear no mention of starting problems. anyone have any thoughts thanks much -mac ps if you wish to email remove whatapain from the address otherwise posting is fine. .

tell me about intake manifold gaskets. i have a 94 v-10 with only 70000 on it but not because it isnt a good engine and had 4 new intake gaskets put in before dodge service got it right. had that last one not been right it was lemon law time for this dodge. since around 95 i havent had an intake manifold gasket give me a snort. damn tech types couldnt get the proper gasket on there and it broke four times. but pushing down on the throttle is still sweet. mileage; i no longer think about it because i cant seem to rise much above 10mpg. it doesnt get used much now primarily because my bride doesnt go dipsy over the rving anymore. too bad. it will be unloaded shortly when i can get everything cleaned up for sale. will try to sell the truck and fifth wheel as a package if i can. pcolaphil to reply remove spamnot. you and i are friends....... you fight i fight........ you hurt i hurt........you cry i cry......... you jump off a bridge.... im gonna miss your dumb ass!!!! | what about reliability i have heard that the v-10 is not very reliable. | is | this true | | dont tell this to either of my v10s 95 with 105k mixed driving 98 with | 38k of abusive-type driving. early v10s had some faulty intake manifold | gaskets later v10s had some head porousity problems. both problems | affected a relatively small number of engines. you want to see reliability | problems go talk to a gm guy with the 6.1l or 8.1l vortecs... ask em how | their pistons are doing or talk to the ford v10 guys wait for em to | catch up... that engines a might slow if theyve managed to find all the | spark plugs their engines have jettisoned | | or... if you really want to hear about it ask a 6.0l powerstroke driver | darn near anything about his engine. be prepared for some cussin... | | .

jane should have been shot for being a traitor to her country in time of war. but what amazes me more is why do any of us even give a shit what these celebs say about anything they are actors and singers for crying out loud. the average joe on the street has a better vision of reality than most of these stars. back then when jane started yapping someone should have just said shut the fuck up and show us yer tits randy lol this is a joke right !!!!! what jane fonda was supposed to have done was a crime and she should have been punished for it. please give a list of other actors who have committed similar crimes and i will ignore them too or are you also now including every actor whos opinion is not the same as yours. one person when celebrities have been doing this sort of thing since jane started it. why no one has boycotted hollywood and music stars on a country wide level is beyond me. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

i have read it in a few places and at product knowledege meetings....obviously not as much concern in a diesel. didnt realize you had one. any experienced driver knows engine braking is important to remain in control under most any condition especially in foul weather. as far as trailer brakes most of us know it is best to have em but some people dont care or dont want to spend the money whatever thier reason. they are only a risk to the rest of us right id like to think that the man hauling something heavy say maybe another car or two had trailer brakes but if not at least be smart enough not to use overdrive. my family and i may be in front of him. mark mark elliott wrote we must also point out that pulling that trailer in overdrive on the highway will reduce your engine braking ability. you are not hurting the truck just be carefull and remember that if you want to slow down you may have to brake. this is why manufacturers dont recomend od when hauling it is a safety issue mark on fri 23 jan 2004 035304 gmt chris cchrista@rochester.rr.com wrote if i am pulling it in overdrive on the thruway or wherever going 65mph it feels like i have to almost floor it to get enough to keep a consistent speed sometimes. especially if there are some hills not steep. sometimes i have to punch it to get back to the speed i was kind of if i had cruise control on this is an enclosed trailer around 2000 pounds with sleds.i noticed if i turn the overdrive off it seems much smoother and no problems of course the engine is revving higher. i understand there is a lot of drag with enclosed trailers. but this isnt a lot of weight. when exactly are you supposed to turn the overdrive off i know in the city i should turn it off. can i turn it off at speeds that high will it make gas mileage a lot worse by the way it was very windy today. thanks a lot. we have a 99 ram qc with 5.9/auto/3.55 gears... pulling a 5000 trailer we find that our mileage is best if we just leave od locked out... as you have found it seems to require more gas pedal to maintain speed in od even on flat ground... i dont see this as a power thing as much as a tranny thing... i figure that you may/may not be hurting your truck to tow in od but you know that you cant hurt it by driving with od locked out... where did you hear that at jerry .

i have the same problem with my 99 dakota. i was worried unitl i read in the owners manual that the transmission is designed not to use overdrive in the cold weather. but even after it warms up it still wouldnt upshift. what i do is drive until the temp gauge reaches normal then pull over and stop. it seems the transmission wont upshift until it has downshifted after its warmed up. hope that works for you. on thu 29 jan 2004 142044 gmt jerry jlrice@earthlink.net wrote mark wrote well ive had this problem ever since i purchased the truck new in the winter of 1997. if it gets any colder than -25c i end up with no overdrive.this has been on trips lasting over 2 hours. today it is a rare -40c...crazy cold! i know im not the only one complaining about this problem.there is some improvement when the block heater is plugged in. the colder it gets the more likely there wont be any overdrive.there is no shortange of cold temps in canada unfortunately. has anyone come up with a solution date jul. 7 1995 models 1996 br ram truck 1996 ab ram van/wagon 1996 an dakota 1996 br ram truck 1996 zj grand cherokee note this bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with rwd transmissions 42re 44re 46re and 47re. discussion in ambient temperatures of minus 5 degrees f and below the powertrain control module pcm will electronically inhibit the transmission from shifting into overdrive. this will protect the transmission from damage if the automatic transmission fluid begins to freeze. this is a new feature for the 1996 model year. the pcm will allow overdrive operation once the ambient temperature has risen approximately 7 degrees above the temperature the transmission overdrive was inhibited at or an ambient temperature of + 2 degrees f whichever occurs first. note the pcm uses a different temperature sensor to monitor the overdrive disconnect than the overhead console. do not attempt to monitor the overdrive disconnect with the overhead console. jerry .

dodge trucks dont use a steering coupler they use a rag joint there is no repair kit for the rag joint you just replace it funny... all of mine the three of em have real honest-to-goodness u joints with a splined coupler and a pinch bolt - not that crappy two metal flanges with an old mudflap sandwiched in the middle that gm liked to use. the truth is it could be slop in the u-joints of the intermediate shaft or it could be slop in the steering box itself. both areas wear out. you can adjust the slop out of the box to a degree. if the intermediate shaft was worn id relpace it with a borgeson unit... but thats just me .
