01 Dakota R/T abnormal roar at highway speed.

Q: hello all... i recently purchased a 2004 dodge ram 1500 quad-cab p/u with the smaller v8 not the hemi and the 5-speed manual transmission. does anyone have any comments suggestions or things to keep an eye on on this transmission is the factory clutch fairly tough what about the rest of the truck anything i should be weary of this is my first dodge truck used to be a ford only man and im finding differences in the way im having to shift on this truck and i just want to be sure im not causing any undo wear on the clutch. specifically relating to the way im having to shift i seem to have to hold the clutch in slightly longer at the end of the clutch pedal for it to engage well otherwise i sometimes get what i call a slap where it seems like the clutch actually contacts the flywheel to fast. maybe it is just me just trying to get an idea and try to keep this truck in the best of shape i can for the longest time. i too used to be a ford man. drove a 75 f250 super cab for 16 years before buying my 03 qc 4x4. i also have the 4.7 and manual transmission. i didnt find out until after i bought this rig that my motor/trans/rear end ratio limited my towing capacity to 4200 lbs. i have the 3.55 rear end. the 3.92 i think it is gives you another 1000 lbs. the clutch is definitely different than the old ford. after a year and a half i still have a little trouble with a smooth shift from time to time. longer clutch travel i think. i also have a whine in the first three gears kinda loud in 1st and 2nd quieter in third. 4th and 5th are quiet. the dealer service garage says its normal but mine sounds louder than the others i have heard. my personal opinion is that the nv3500 tranny in our trucks is a little weak. i wish they had put the 4500 in the half tons. but since i rarely tow and use my truck more like a car i should be fine. .

hi i must have the same problem. just changed to an aftermarket radio and the sound in the back is now only thru the tweeters. i suspect that my infinity amp isnt being powered on. there is a 2 wire plug with 3v on both wires. and a black ground type plug that went on a quick connect terminal but it is not continuous with ground. how do i wire the amp connector doesnt seem to be any mention in the reciever manual. - miles .
