Q: to clean hazy headlights i have had great results in using 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and lots of clean water with just a drop of dish detergent. had an old bronco with the same problem you are experiencing and after pricing the new lenses decided to try different things to clean my old ones up. liquid cleaners and polishes helped just a little. rubbing compound did little also. the sandpaper made the lenses sparkle better than new. the main beam headlight lenses on my 94 ram are clouded over so badly that my lights are not as bright as they need to be. ive been told that this comes as an entire assembly and further research yields a dealer price of $180 and an aftermarket price of $65. it has also been suggested that the cleaners sold at auto stores for polishing acrylic might help. any experience out there with this problem - magnusfarce .

looks like i got some water in the fuel in my new 04 cumins ram 2500. thought it had been running different drove the fuel down to near empty and put 5 gallons in and drove 3 or 4 miles then opened the filter drain valve some fuel came out. i closed it drove another 10 miles and parked last night. temp got down in the teens went to start it and it only ran for about a minute then would not fire off at all. waded up a 25 of heat tape and crammed it all around where the drain valve is at on the left side of the engine. 3hours later still wont start. temp has not risen above freezing. i am assuming the fuel has water in it and it froze i put some heat additive in the tank. is there some way that you can open the drain valve and turn on the key so the fuel pump would pump the filter out or is their another filter under the truck. bill p. .

i had a 1990 dakota v6 3.9 club cab auto that i sold when it reached 200000 miles. i then came across a cherry 1996 dakota v6 3.9 auto club cab which i bought. although i am a very conservative driver i am getting poorer fuel mileage than i did with the 1990. the former owner changed out the plugs plug wires and dist cap before i bought it. when i pull the plugs for an inspection they are in good shape no burning no deposits etc. they look like they should look. the engine runs great and is not an oil burner. i get no trouble codes from the obdii. it runs fine no missing stalling or stumbling. when i bought it i found that the cat was rattling so i had it changed. i have changed the thermostat and the pcv valve. i have ran injector cleaner through the gas tank. it made no difference. i am getting 13 mpg city and 14 mpg highway. now i am wondering if a prior owner may have changed out the rear end gear ratios. it came with a hitch and a sticker that suggested it may have been used to tow a boat. now the question- - - - - how can one know if the rear end ratio has been changed and differs from what the under hood sticker says all replies appreciated. oldtimer .
